The actions of this strategy are realized by a team of professionals aimed at health education and disease prevention. Among the professionals involved in the PSF team, is the Community Health Agent that also act as a bridge between the community and the multidisciplinary team, also operates in education and prevention. For ACS to perform the tasks that you are determined, it is necessary for the education and training as well as approaches listed on the needs identified in the Labor Process. Faced with this reality that is dynamic, there is a need to consider the need for implementation of the process of continuing education along these Community Health Workers from 11 FHP teams currently qualified by the Municipality of Presidente Prudente. The study subjects were 59 Community Health Agents and with which we sought to answer the following question: The Community Health Agent has adequate training and sufficient for the proper performance of its function? In analyzing the data and the quality of the responses can shape the profile of the individuals involved and the results indicate that they do not have sufficient training to adequately perform their activities as recommended by philosophy and action in the work of the Strategy Family Health / O Modelo de Saúde proposto pelo Sistema Único de Saúde a partir da Lei n.º 8080 de 19 de setembro de 1990, apresenta em sua proposta uma estratégia de reorganização e reorientação da atenção básica, denominado Programa de Saúde da Família (PSF). As ações desta estratégia se concretizam por meio de uma equipe de profissionais que visam à educação para a saúde e à prevenção das doenças. Entre os profissionais que compõem a equipe do PSF, encontra-se o Agente Comunitário de Saúde (ACS) que, além de constituir-se um elo entre a comunidade e a equipe multiprofissional, também exerce funções educativas e de prevenção. Para o ACS desempenhar as tarefas que lhe são determinadas é necessário um período para formação e capacitação, como também abordagens constantes sobre as necessidades identificadas no Processo de Trabalho. Diante desta realidade que é dinâmica, surge a necessidade de averiguar a necessidade de implementação do processo de Educação Permanente junto a estes Agentes Comunitários de Saúde das 11 equipes do PSF, atualmente qualificadas pelo município de Presidente Prudente. Os sujeitos deste estudo foram 59 Agentes Comunitários de Saúde, por meio dos quais buscou-se resposta para o seguinte questionamento: O Agente Comunitário de Saúde tem formação adequada e suficiente para o bom desempenho da sua função? Na análise dos dados obtidos e pela qualidade das respostas pode-se delinear o perfil dos sujeitos envolvidos e os resultados sinalizam que os mesmos não possuem formação suficientemente adequada para o bom desempenho de suas atividades conforme preconizado pela filosofia e pela ação no trabalho da Estratégia de Saúde da Família.
