In November 1827, emperor Dom Pedro I named, as it had never been done before, three important members of the Chamber of Deputies to occupy key positions in the Executive power of the Empire. Up to that moment, no other deputy had been part of ministerial offices. Even though this political experiment lasted only two years, it established substantial changes in relationships between the Executive and Legislative powers in the First Reign, especially with the Chamber of Deputies, whose changes had as an incentive the Crown’s needs to have rhetorical “gladiators” in the Chamber aiming at winning the Legislative power’s votes. In this paper we narrate the story of the ascension of the Office of November 1827 and the rhetorical disputes it took part in order to defend Dom Pedro I and his supporters’ policies
