This search aimed to evaluate the role of the academic library as a place of production and stimulation for knowledge creation. To achieve this goal, were discussed that and other functions, as a role of cultural former of its members, given the increasing development of existing technologies and resources. The depositary function of the collection was compared to the technological and identified profusion changes with and within the academic library, considering that the evolution from print to digital has been evaluated. Interviews were conducted with academic libraries??? management experts, who corroborated with the changes identified by the authors surveyed. From the texts and interviews conducted, it was seen that the library space is being discussed and reworked from technological changes and the discussion itself on the role of the university in our society. / A Biblioteca Universit??ria tem sido vista como agente de forma????o do conhecimento para pesquisadores e comunidade em geral, indicando como os usu??rios podem utilizar melhor os acervos dispon??veis devidamente catalogados e organizados. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo principal avaliar o papel da Biblioteca Universit??ria como espa??o de produ????o e de est??mulo para cria????o do conhecimento. Para alcan??ar esse objetivo foram discutidas esta e outras fun????es como papel de formador cultural de seus usu??rios, considerando o crescente desenvolvimento das tecnologias e recursos existentes. Foi avaliada a fun????o deposit??ria de acervo comparado ?? profus??o tecnol??gica e identificadas mudan??as com e no espa??o da Biblioteca Universit??ria avaliando a evolu????o do impresso para o digital. Foram realizadas entrevistas com especialistas em gest??o de Bibliotecas Universit??rias que corroboraram as mudan??as identificadas pelos autores pesquisados. A partir dos textos e entrevistas realizadas, p??de-se constatar que o espa??o da biblioteca est?? sendo discutido e reformulado a partir das mudan??as tecnol??gicas e da pr??pria discuss??o do papel da universidade em nossa sociedade.
