Consequently to that question, I examined proposals suggested in the sense of raising alternatives and reflections about the quality of life and special cares, for those individuals that are part of the elderly segment. For this I interviewed ten professionals of significant relevance in the area, that either study or work with the ageing process, Five questions were asked to the subjects with the intention to understand each one's personal visions about: self care, the difference between self care while young and self care for the elderly, to know what is important for the person being interviewed, to take care beyond the physical body; to see if the person interviewed realizes the importance of taking care of himself, and finally what do they consider important to build a prevention program considering self care. I established in this research dialogues between the thoughts of several authors as Foucault, Freud, Melaine Klein, Jung, Winnicott, Mucida, Ayres, Birman, Carielo, Medeiros, Debert, Goldfarb, Martins, and others / O objetivo do presente trabalho é o de compreender a visão que os profissionais têm sobre os significados do cuidar de si, considerando que os sujeitos entrevistados para esta dissertação são pessoas que trabalham, pesquisam e/ou estudam a questão do envelhecimento. Consequentemente, examino propostas sugeridas no sentido de levantar alternativas e reflexões sobre qualidade de vida e cuidados para os indivíduos que fazem parte do segmento idoso. Para isto entrevistei 10 profissionais de significativa relevância na área, que estudam e/ou trabalham com o envelhecimento. Foram feitas cinco perguntas aos sujeitos com a finalidade de conhecer qual a visão pessoal que cada um tem sobre o cuidar de si, a diferença entre se cuidar enquanto jovem e se cuidar enquanto velho, saber o que é importante para os entrevistados, para cuidar além do corpo físico; se há a realização do auto-cuidado por parte dos entrevistados, e finalmente o que eles consideram importante para construir um projeto de prevenção pensando no cuidar de si. Estabeleço na pesquisa diálogos entre os pensamentos de vários autores como Foucault, Freud, Melaine Klein, Jung, Winnicott, Mucida, Ayres, Birman, Carielo, Medeiros, Debert, Goldfarb, Martins, entre outros
