Orientador: Christina de Rezende Rubim / Banca: Regina Coeli Machado e Silva / Banca: Claude Lépine / Resumo: A antropologia, enquanto ciência do homem, sempre se defrontou com o paradoxo da unidade biológica do homem frente à diversidade cultural. A dissertação aborda esta importante questão: como definir um objeto, o "Homem", se em toda parte o que se encontram são "homens"? Qual a especificidade e a singularidade do homem como objeto de estudos frente à pluralidade cultural? Não é uma questão fácil, nem tão pouco resolvida pela antropologia, o dilema perpassa o pensamento de diversos autores, e não apenas em obras antropológica, mas também filosóficas e psicológicas. Especificamente a questão é tratada aqui a partir do pensamento de dois expressivos antropólogos, Malinowski, com formação inicial em ciências exatas, que produziu sua obra na primeira metade do século XX e Geertz, que se graduou em filosofia e inglês e produziu sua obra na segunda metade do século XX. São considerados alguns aspectos da vida e da obra de ambos os autores, procurando evidenciar a importância do momento histórico em que viveram e das influências teóricas que receberam. Percebe-se a partir daí que a problemática toma rumos diversos, pois enquanto Malinowski argumenta que a cultura surge para atender a necessidades biológicas e derivadas e nos fala em uma natureza humana entendida em termos biológicos, Geertz entende que o homem é um artefato cultural em um duplo sentido, a cultura interferiu no processo evolutivo da nossa espécie e ela se constitui de um conjunto de mecanismos de controle que governa o comportamento e dá sentido à existência humana. / Abstract: The anthropology, as a manþs science, has always faced the paradox of biological unity of man in front of cultural diversity. The dissertation approaches this important question: how to define an object, the "Man", if in everywhere what we find are "men"? Which is the specificity and singularity of man as object of studies in front of cultural plurality? It is not an easy question, neither solved by anthropology, the dilemma goes through several authorsþ thought, and not only in anthropological, but also philosophical and psychological works. The question here is specifically treated from the thought of two expressive anthropologists, Malinowski, with initial formation in exact science, producing his work in the first half of 20th century and Geertz, graduated in philosophy and english, producing his work in the second half of 20th century. Some aspects of life and work of both authors are considered, bringing to evidence the importance of historical moment in which they lived and theoretical influences received. It is perceived from this that the problem takes several ways, because as Malinowski argues that the culture arises to attend biological and derived needs and tells us about a human nature comprehended in biological terms, Geertz understands that the man is a cultural artefact in a double way: the culture has interfered in the evolutive process of our species and it is constituted of a group of control mechanisms that guides the behavior and gives sense to the human existence. / Mestre

Orientador: Fadel David Antonio Filho / Banca: Olga Rodrigues de Moraes von Simson / Banca: Bernadete Aparecida Caprioglio de Castro Oliveira / Resumo: Esta pesquisa foi pautada na descoberta no processo de imigração japonesa para o desenvolvimento econômico e cultural de diversos municípios brasileiros, tendo como exemplo, especificamente o município de Piracicaba - SP. O objetivo é apresentar a importância da imigração japonesa na diversidade cultural do espaço geográfico piracicabano, não nos desvencilhando do processo histórico-geográfico. Recorremos a duas metodologias, ao método dialético, e a história oral, que consubstancializaram o levantamento dos dados. Através de contato com a direção do Clube Cultural e Recreativo Nipo Brasileiro de Piracicaba, formamos uma pequena rede de informantes, priorizando a qualidade dos depoimentos e não a quantidade. Selecionamos a partir das narrativas os seguintes eixos temáticos: Condição no Japão, Viagem, Trabalho, Percepção da Paisagem, Moradia, Alimentação, Utensílios usados no cotidiano, Educação dos Filhos, Situação dos Imigrantes durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial (1919-1945), Casamentos, Caminhos para uma vida independente. As diversas etnias, entre elas a japonesa, contribuíram para a formação da diversidade cultural brasileira. No município de Piracicaba - SP, os imigrantes além da participação no processo de desenvolvimento econômico, deixaram marcas no espaço geográfico do município, no qual encontramos traços culturais de diversas etnias que imprimem uma paisagem cultural diversificada. / Abstract: This research was base on the discovery of the process of immigration japanese of several Brazilian cities having, as exemple the city of Piracicaba - SP, specifically. The goal is to present how important is the Japanese immigration for the cultural diversity of the geographic space of Piracicaba, always thingking about the historic ang geographic contest. We use two methodologies: the dialectical method and the oral history, which increased the datas. Through the contact withe the directions of Clube Cultural e Recreativo Nipo Brasileiro de Piracicaba, we got a net of informands, we decided to give priority to the quality of depositions, instead of quantity. We select the subjects: Condition at Japan, Travelling, Working, Perception and Landscape, Houses, Food, Marerials used everyday, Children Education, The situation of immigrants during the Second World War, Marriage and ways to an independendent life. The several etnies, between the Japanese, had contributed to the brazilian cultural diversity formation. At the city of Piracicaba - SP, the immigrants, beyond the participation in the economical process of development had left marks in the geographic space of the city, in which we find cultural traces of various etnies that print a diversified cultural landscape. / Mestre

Orientador: Dalva Maria Bianchini Bonotto / Banca: Luiz Carlos Santana / Banca: Ulisses Ferreira de Araujo / Resumo: A atual crise ambiental tem exigido uma ampla revisão das relações sociedade-sociedade e sociedade-natureza, implicando em mudanças profundas em nossas concepções, valores e ações frente ao mundo. A educação tem sido considerada uma possibilidade de enfrentamento dessa crise e em relação a ela, o trabalho com valores tem se apresentado como fundamental. Diante disso, a presente pesquisa buscou identificar e caracterizar entendimentos e práticas que uma professora, interessada no trabalho com valores na escola, manifestou ao elaborar e desenvolver um plano de ensino que procurasse efetivar esse trabalho a partir da temática ambiental. Através de uma abordagem qualitativa, realizou-se um estudo de caso instrumental, acompanhando a professora durante a elaboração e o desenvolvimento do plano de ensino junto a alunos do ensino fundamental, o que ocorreu no primeiro semestre de 2009. A análise dos dados evidenciou que apesar da intencionalidade da professora em trabalhar valores através da educação ambiental e de um ambiente escolar propício para isso, tal dimensão configurou-se de forma implícita, tanto na proposta inicial como na sua concretização em sala de aula. A dificuldade encontrada pela professora para o desenvolvimento do trabalho mais explícito pareceu se dar por alguns fatores, um deles relacionado a certa ausência de clareza da professora quanto à necessidade de um melhor preparo para o trabalho com valores, em termos de apropriação dos procedimentos específicos para realizar essa tarefa. Outro fator que dificultou o trabalho da professora foi sua crença na idéia de que "conhecer implica em valorizar", claramente expressa na redação de seus objetivos no plano de ensino. A professora trouxe para o trabalho em sala de aula principalmente as experiências - e valores - construídos durante sua graduação em Ciências Biológicas e sua formação... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The current environmental crisis requires a broad review of the society-society and societynature relationships, resulting in strong and profound changes in our conceptions, values and actions toward the world. Education has been considered a possibility of facing this crisis and working with the issue of values is crucial in this context. Considering these facts, the present study aimed to identify and characterize understandings and practices of a teacher interested in working with the issue of values, who elaborated and developed a teaching plan that aimed realize this work from the environmental theme. Using a qualitative approach, an instrumental case study was performed through the accompanying the teacher during the elaboration and development of the teaching plan with her students of fundamental degree at the first semester of 2009. The data analysis showed that, despite the intentions of the teacher in work with the issue of values through the environmental education and to exist a favorable scholar environment to this, this dimension was shaped in an implicit manner, both in the initial proposal and in its implementation in the classroom. The trouble encountered to develop this work in an explicit manner seem to be related to some factors, one of them related to a kind of an absence of a clear intention of the teacher facing the need of a better preparation to work with the issue of values, in terms of appropriation of the specific proceedings to realize this task. Another factor that hampered the teacher work was his belief in the idea that "knowing implies valorize", clearly expressed in the aims of her teaching plan. The teacher brought to the classroom mainly the experiences - and values - built during her graduation in Biological Sciences and during her master degree in the area of ethnobotany, values that she demonstrated it were built for herself.
