Studies in the excavation of selected rock materials with mechanical tools

This work covers laboratory studies in the excavation of selected rock materials with mechanical cutters. Cutting head design of rock excavation systems employing drag tools or disc cutters is investigated by considering their practical cutting action. Effects of tool tilt angle on the performance of roadheaders with longitudinal cutting heads are investigated in detail. Along with tilt angle, optimum tool spacing between adjacent cutters, cutting head geometry and mode of operation of roadheaders are also studied. Experiments with disc cutters covered mainly the effect of disc edge angle on disc performance. When the practical cutting action of drag tools is considered the trend of forces and specific energy becomes somewhat different from those obtained during flat rock surface cutting trials; however, the definition of optimum tool spacing with respect to drag tools confirms previous findings. Tilt angle has a significant influence on the performance of cutting tools; in particular, with corner cutting tools. It was found that individual tool forces are proportional to the cross-sectional area cut by the corresponding tool. Roadheader cutting heads with combined geometry offer better performances than those with spherical geometry when the tool spacing is kept constant around the cutting head. In arcing mode tool duties are also affected by boom length. Cyclic deepening of grooves exists when cutting with discs, discs having smaller edge angles requiring more successive passes to produce a complete breakout between adjacent grooves.

Bakalauriniame darbe konstruojamas gaminys - „Audinių skersinio pjaustymo įrenginys". Nagrinėti šioje srityje naudojami įtaisai ir priemonės, parinkta keletas galimų konstrukcinių variantų, atliktas jų palyginimas (privalumai ir trūkumai). Atlikti šio prietaiso, transporterio techniniai skaičiavimai. Analizuoti du prietaiso detalių pagaminimo technologiniai maršrutai, nustatyti įrenginiai reikalingi atlikti mechanines operacijas. Darbe pateikiami techniniai ir eksploataciniai reikalavimai naudojant įrenginį darbo procese. Ekonominiais skaičiavimais nustatyta ir pagrįsta gaminio savikaina. / All cutting machinery is similar to each other because of their working principle. They all have cutting knife and some kind of shafts which pulls fabric. „Audinių skersinio pjaustymo įrenginys“ is made from laser cut metal and some construction tubes. Other used drives is electric motors, reducers, pneumatic cylinders, belt drives. This device can make all kind of blankets varying from 10 to 60mm thickness, all sort of fabrics, up to 2000 mm width and custom lenght. This paper describes the purpose of a blanket cutting machine, presents its technical specification and carried out analysis of constructional variants, technical calculations, and operational requirements. When designing the blanket cutting machine information from technical library of joint stock company "UAB Dominari" and collected information on peculiarities of maintenance and repairs of technological equipment of the company were used. Additionally, material available from Šiauliai University Technology Faculty library and methodological material from the department were used, scholarly and technical literature was analyzed, patent search was done, internet search engine was used.

This marter’s thesis deals with the technology of electrical discharge wire cutting. There is described the basic nature of the electrical erosion, EDM principle and WEDM principle. The main part deals with the application of wire cutting in the manufacture pulley 68-8M-130 with a description of technology on the wire cutter Excetek V 650. At the end of the work is devoted to the statistical evaluation of the precision machined surfaces.
