Jaime Luiz Rabbit. The study involves the performance of the institution, since the foundation of the city, in 1947, until the decade of 1980, with the implantation of the Archdiocese and the awarding of Maringá to the Ecclesiastical Province. It was looked to analyze offensive of the Catholic Church to consolidate its presence in the society that was being formed and to implant catholic norms and values. This society was characterized by the heterogeneous culture, from the intense colonist migration of several parts of Brazil and abroad. The research emphasizes the Catholic Church offensive to impose is world representation as legitimate one / Este trabalho analisa a presença da Igreja Católica em Maringá, no Estado do Paraná, e a atuação do primeiro bispo, D. Jaime Luiz Coelho. O estudo abrange a atuação da instituição, desde a e fundação da cidade, em 1947, até a década de 1980, com a implantação da Arquidiocese e a elevação de Maringá à Província Eclesiástica. Procurou-se analisar a ofensiva da Igreja Católica a fim de consolidar sua presença na sociedade que estava sendo formada e implantar normas e valores católicos. Essa sociedade era caracterizada pela heterogeneidade cultural, derivada da intensa migração de colonos de diversas partes do Brasil e do exterior.
