Tessellation of the sphere with different compression techniquesYe, Ziqiao January 2010 (has links)
Many kinds of data have a spherical representation, the idea is to tessellate the "sphere" in an efficient way and then decode the data so it can be compressed easily. In this paper, the process of exploration will start from the basic spherical wavelet-like to some new tessellation compression techniques in 3D to decompose the sphere with squares or triangles. The produced tessellation will have more round corners and the artefacts will be less prominent. Earth map will be textured on the sphere to compare the effect of different compression techniques.

Water simulation in 3DGovori, Arbnor January 2010 (has links)
Recognition is one of the first steps towards success for any business. A strong visual logo design enables consumers to recognize the business easily. If the company does not have an efficient marketing strategy, the customer will not buy their products, which is a loss in the company’s sales. While working with a company, a 3D logo and corporate video was created to simulate realistic water flow with Dynamic Fluids using Autodesk Maya and Real Flow. This research examines the behavior of different fluids, water, how different forces affect the water and how waves are formed and their movements, as well as gravitational forces. The result was a dynamic fluid simulated logo in which water starts flowing in the middle and spreads out to all of the letters of the company’s name, Pool-Friends

Emotioner i spel : Hur emotioner påverkar spelupplevelsenAxelsson, Peter January 2010 (has links)

A customer of Sekonden IT is to replace the current setup authoring process for a program called PropCalc with a new process based on a setup authoring tool with high quality and usability. The report aims at present a suitable setup authoring tool for PropCalc by making use of a structured evaluation process evaluate the setup authoring tools on the market. Olof Næssén presents a process for evaluating web frameworks for Java in his thesis Utvärdering av webbramverk för Java. The evaluation process is adapted in the report to generally suit evaluation of software. After adjustment to the evaluation process an evalutaion is performed evaluating the currently available setup authoring tools. The evaluation will show that the most suitable candidate for PropCalc is InstallShield Premier but that the candidate that is finally chosen is WiX.

Evaluation of a Bisensor System for 3D Modeling of Indoor EnvironmentsLouloudi, Athanasia January 2010 (has links)
Three dimensional (3D) sensing, analysis and reconstruction of objects and scenesin unknown environments has become an important area of research in several disciplines.Recently, Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras have attracted attention because oftheir advantageous ability to generate full 3D range distance information at videoframe rates. However, several challenging fluctuations like systematic or random errorscan occur and thus decrease the quality of the acquired data. Therefore, the usabilityof such systems is very much dependent on an accurate camera calibration. Inaddition, ToF cameras have still limited resolution (e.g. 176x144) and they can onlyprovide monochromatic (grayscale) information. This work concentrates on the fusion of 2D vision and 3D range data in order toobtain accurate and visually appealing representations of real indoor environments. Inparticular two major fields of research are treated. The first concerns the compensationof the common errors that the ToF cameras present. This is achieved by performing acalibration schema that additionally sets the ground towards the creation of a commonreference frame for both sensors. The second task is to incorporate these two differentsensors into one system that exhibits improved accuracy and high quality output data. The calibration process addresses both photogrammetric and depth correction techniques. Moreover, due to the fact that the real world scenes increase the level of difficultythat such a system has to confront, a validation of the ToF cameras performanceemerges as an important need. For this purpose, a novel approach to evaluate and get abetter insight on the accuracy of the ToF camera is introduced, based on a 3D NormalDistribution Transform. Finally, as sensor fusion plays an important role in this work, multi-sensor applicationsare further investigated based on the incorporation of such a biform sensorysystem. Principle goal is to communicate the color information and enhance the overallresult by the use of 3D surface reconstruction approaches.

Towards Purposeful StudentComputers - School WorkComputer ConceptMeriluoto, Tea January 2010 (has links)
This Master's thesis studies how the technologies of today could be developed to better support education. An analysis is conducted of digital learning tools on the educational technology market. Based on this analysis a conclusion is made that while many other digital tools for education are well suited for their use, only a few computers are designed purely for students. While students in higher education do draw bene ts of using standard laptops and computers in their study work, the students in primary and secondary education should be provided with special learning computers. Therefore a conceptual design is presented for a mobile student computer that helps the students focus on school work.

A program that createsprograms, how to graphicallycreate a mobile phoneapplicationMettävainio, Andreas January 2010 (has links)
There is pressure on mobile phone application developers. With the success of the iPhone in 2007 advanced mobile phones are getting more and more common, and with them a market for applications, programs for mobile phones has exploded. The thesis discusses the possibility of helping developers to lift the focus from the code and instead graphically visualize the system architecture, the design of graphics and the functionality of the application. First a "proof of concept" program was implemented that allows a user to create the graphics for a mobile phone application using only drag and drop. Then a design proposal was created with the goal to allow developers with basic programming experience to create mobile phone applications using drag and drop. The proposal was heuristically evaluated with the help of a checklist consisting of eleven Gestalt laws and ten heuristics that were applied on sketches of the design proposal constructed in Adobe Photoshop CS4. The results from the two parts were merged. To create applications fast and with low programming experience, using drag and drop is a strong candidate to solve the problem.

Agila metoder – en kartläggning av teori och praktikGeorgsson, Anna January 2010 (has links)
In recent years, agile software development methods have become increasingly popular throughout the world. Today there are a number of different agile methods and they all rest on the Agile Manifesto that was formulated in 2001 as a reaction to the traditional software processes. The aim of this thesis is to make a survey of some of the agile methods used today and to see how they are being used in practice. It consists of two parts: a literature study and an interview study with people working in the software business. First, a definition of agile methods is proposed and a number of different agile methods are described. Second, the interviews are being analysed with special focus on communication, collaboration, expectations and results. Third, the theory and practice are compared and the results are being analysed.Only three of the agile methods were used by the companies, and Scrum was the most common one. The respondents had all adopted the agile methods to their needs and they all seemed very pleased with this way of working. Their expectations on the agile methods were mainly satisfied. They stressed that documentation is still needed but is now done differently. Communication, both within the team and with the customer is also very important.

A comparison of medical image analysis algorithms for edge detectionChao, Yang January 2010 (has links)
Edge detection is always study focus in the field of medical image processing and analysis. It is an absolutely necessary step in medical image processing. In China medical field, processing of real-time data is constrained by limited resources .Thus, it is important to understand and analysis image analysis algorithms for accuracy, speed and quality. In this paper are analyzed the frequency features of the (Sobel, Prewitt , Robert , Laplacian, Canny operators) from the viewpoint of frequency and speed domain, and it is proposed that the frequency features of the different operators should be considered when different operators are being used or constructed. Because edge detection operators is sensitive to the edge type, the appropriate operator should be adopted should be adopted in different edge type detection. Finally, the importance and necessary of comparing the continuity and speed edge detection operators are validated in the area of MRI image.
