Modular Reality / Modular Reality

Kučavík, Patrik Unknown Date (has links)
This project tries to ask by the means of speculation questions about contemporary architectectural conception, housing politics and personal ownership. How does the increasing amount of automatization and "smart" solutions change the state of society? And how could architecture reflect this change? One of the main advantages of modular design is the ability to change and replace modules. The reason of replacement often caused by the desire of customization of products according to one's needs. We can therfore state that one of the key properties of modular design is the ability "to change". Architecture is by it's means static. Compared to other aspects of our environment, it has the least amount of ability to change. Project Automata researches the possibilities of dynamic architecture and asks mainly those questions: How could an architecture reflecting the dynamic change in society look? Is it possible to live in such architecture? And what is the purpose of architect in the whole process?

Možnosti a přesahy tradiční lidové architektury jako inspirace pro ekologicky šetrnou architekturu současnosti / Possibilities and Overlaps of the Traditional FolkAarchitecture as an Inspiration for the Environmentally Friendly Architecture Today

KURINCOVÁ, Marie January 2009 (has links)
The work deals with the possibility of use the traditional knowledges and methods in construction with regards to today's lifestyle and technology, emphasizes the importance of the legacy, respect for countryside, individuality and surrounding environment. Above all I try to summarize the information about the current situation in architecture of family houses, which influence dominates in this area and which choices we have. I target especially the organic architecture mainly for wood constructions. At the beginning of the work I describe the issues of present architecture. I am dealing with the question if traditional and modern way of life must be in conflict, how we change our environment today and what could be the eventual effects for the future. The second part of the work is focused on the traditional vernacular architecture in South Bohemia, especially in the Bohemian Forest (Šumava) region, on types of construction, use and processing of materials and their integration into the countryside. The final part is applied to present ecology architecture. Firstly I summarize and identify the objects in general, subsequently I focus on the wood constructions, which correspond to traditional knowledge and experience in the manufacture and processing of wood.

Grohmann, Cornelia 11 November 2015 (has links)

Evolving Information Technology: A Case Study of the Effects of Constant Change on Information Technology Instructional Design Architecture

Helps, C. Richard G. 02 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)
A major challenge for Information Technology (IT) programs is that the rapid pace of evolution of computing technology leads to frequent redesign of IT courses. The problem is exacerbated by several factors. Firstly, the changing technology is the subject matter of the discipline and is also frequently used to support instruction; secondly, this discipline has only been formalized as a four-year university program within recent years and there is a lack of established textbooks and curriculum models; finally, updating courses is seldom rewarded in a higher education system that favors research and teaching for promotion and tenure. Thus, continuously updating their courses place a significant burden on the faculty. A case study approach was used to describe and explain the change processes in updating IT courses. Several faculty members at two institutions were interviewed and course changes were identified and analyzed. The analysis revealed a set of recurrent themes in change processes. An instructional design architecture approach also revealed a set of design domains representing the structure of the change processes. The design domains were analyzed in terms of the design decisions they represented, and also in terms of structures, functions and activities, which are related to Structures-Behaviors-Functions (SBF) analysis. The design domains model helped to explain both negative and positive outcomes that were observed in the data. When design efforts impact multiple domains the design is likely to be more difficult. Understanding the design domain architecture will assist future designers in this discipline.
