Creating Faculty Guidelines for Collaborative Online International Learning: Design and Development

Mukuni, Candido 20 December 2024 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / This study focuses on helping college and university instructors use an innovative teaching method called Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). COIL connects students from different countries through online collaboration, promoting intercultural learning and global understanding. While there is plenty of research about using COIL for learning new languages, less is known about how it can support cultural learning in other subjects. To fill this gap, this study reviews current research and teaching practices, then creates a set of easy-to-follow guidelines for instructors from various fields who want to integrate COIL into their classes. Using a proven instructional design framework, the research carefully analyzes, designs, develops, and evaluates these guidelines to ensure they are practical, and evidence based. This project aims to provide educators with the tools they need to make global learning experiences engaging and effective for students everywhere.
