Implementing Municipal Water Conservation Policy: Goals, Practices and the Case of TexasSokulsky, Kariann Elizabeth 05 1900 (has links)
This study examines whether water conservation is actually being incorporated into municipal water management practices. The development of a conservation policy from a general goal declaration to specific programmatic practices is reviewed for a Texas state water agency, the Texas Water Development Board. From January 1986 through September 1989, 102 political units in Texas applied to the Board for water-related loan funds and thus were required to implement municipal water conservation plans. Two aspects of this conversation policy are assessed: one, the Board's procedural arrangements for the development and review of water conservation plans, and two, the conservation plans of each political unit. It is concluded that Texas state water managers, and local manager also, have yet to incorporate conservation as a significant planning tool for the achievement of water management goals.

Strategic international risk variables influencing South Africa’s grade 9 construction firms’ entry mode choices into other African countriesNcalo, Trevor January 2017 (has links)
Thesis is submitted in partial fulfilment for the degree of M.Sc. Building(Construction Project Management) to the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, School of Construction Economics and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, 2017 / When firms expand into foreign markets, selecting the right entry mode strategy can be challenging and there are many variables that should be taken into consideration. There are various theories and constructs in the study of entry mode choice and risk is one of the common theories. It is therefore imperative for managers to take strategic international risks into consideration when deciding on an entry mode strategy. This study investigates the influence of these risk variables on the selection of entry mode strategies by managers within South Africa’s grade 9 construction firms. Research on entry mode choice dates back as far as the 1980’s and over the years many theories have been developed, thus a deductive research approach has been adopted for this study.
Research aim:
The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of strategic international risk variables on the preferred entry mode strategy, within the context of South Africa’s construction industry focusing on grade 9 firms registered with the CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board).
Research questions:
What is the general profile of managers in South Africa’s grade 9 construction firms involved with the entry mode strategy decision?
Which entry mode strategy is preferred by managers in South Africa’s grade 9 construction firms, when venturing into other construction markets on the African continent?
and, what influence do strategic international risk variables have on the preferred entry mode choice by managers in South Africa’s grade 9 construction firms?
Research methodology:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of strategic international risks on the preferred entry mode choice. The study is founded on a direct realist philosophy. The survey research strategy was used and a questionnaire was sent out to collect the required data and the mono-method research choice was applied to collect and analyse the data. Furthermore, a cross-sectional time horizon has been applied in this study. The qualitative data collection method was used together with the qualitative content analysis method of analysis.
Research procedure:
To answer the above questions, Grade 9 contractors / XL2018

A model for the development of women in construction in the Limpopo Province of South AfricaJonas, Sminny Nozimangaliso Minah 18 September 2017 (has links)
PhDRDV / Instutute for Rural Development / The overall purpose of this study was to describe a model for the development of women in
construction in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. To achieve this purpose two phases were
used i.e., the two stage empirical phase that employed a mixed method research process to
identify and understand the development needs of women in construction and a theory-generation
phase, which consisted of 8 stages that interfaced with phase 1
The population of the study were stakeholders in the construction industry namely, women
contractors who are active grade 2 (registered as such on the CIDB register of contractors) and
owner-managers in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, representative of the board of the
Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Construction Education and Training Authority
(CETA), the Independent Development Trust (IDT), the Council for the Built Environment (CBE)
and the South African Women in Construction (SAWIC). Qualitative data was collected through
in-depth one-on-one interviews, whilst quantitative data was gathered through administering
questionnaires. Six (6) stakeholders participated in the interviews and out of the targeted 167 in
the CIDB register, 120 completed the questionnaires. The results of the empirical phase were
subjected to the 8-step method of theory generation according to Chinn and Kramer (2011:152-
205). A conceptual framework for the model for development of rural women in construction was
organized by applying the proposed elements of a practice theory according to Dickhoff, James
& Wiedenbach (1968) and Barnum (1994). The theoretical evaluation of a model was done
utilizing Chinn and Kramer (2011:205) criteria for evaluation of a theory. Guidelines to
operationalize the theory were also described as well as recommendations and conclusion.

Development Board for 32-bit Microcontroller Atmel AT91SAM9261 / Development Board for 32-bit Microcontroller Atmel AT91SAM9261Demín, Martin January 2009 (has links)
Vestavený hardware je velice populární v této době. Proto jsme se rozhodli vytvořit desku s mikrokontrolérem AT91SAM9261 spolu so standartným a nestandartným hardwarem.
