Atendimento de estimulação em serviço de visão subnormal : caracteristicas de usuarios, opinião e conduta de mães

Elaborou-se um questionário fechado a partir do estudo exploratório. Foram entrevistadas 25 mães de crianças de O a 4 anos. A maioria das mães seguiu as orientações dadas, sem demonstrar grande dificuldade. Em geral os casos foram detectados antes dos seis meses de vida, mas apenas 50,0% chegaram ao Serviço de Estimulação da Visão Subnormal até esta idade. Na grande maioria dos casos a mãe, foi quem primeiro percebeu o problema visual da criança (48,0%), seguido de outros familiares (28,0%) e médicos (24,0%). Ressalta-se ainda a importância das mães e familiares na detecção desses casos. Evidenciou-se a dificuldade da mãe em entender o diagnóstico oftalmológico e suas implicações reais no desenvolvimento global da criança. O estudo sugere a necessidade de facilitação do acesso dos deficientes aos centros de reabilitação e uma participação mais ativa dos oftalmologistas no encaminhamento precoce das crianças portadoras de deficiência visual / Abstract: The purpose of this study was to know and to describe the opinion and practice of mothers of children with visual deficiency who were cared at the Stimulation of Subnormal Vision Unit of Clinics Hospital at the University of Campinas. It was intended to know the characteristics of the family and the child with visual deficiency. For data collection a structured questionnaire was applied by the investigator to the mothers of these children. The sample size was of 25 mothers of children from O to 4 years old. This questionnaire wich had been elaborated resulted from work field's activities. The results showed that the majority of mothers adequately followed the instructions given and do not have any major difficulty to perform them. According to the age of the child at the time of the visual impairment detection and of the first visit to the ophthalmologist, the results revealed that the majority of these children was detected before reaching 6 months of life, however only 50,0% arrived to the Stimulation of Subnormal Vision Unit until this age. The mother is who generally first identified the visual impairment on the child (48,0%) followed by other relatives (28,0%) and doctors (24,0%). This is concerned the important role of the mother/woman for the rehabilitation of the child. During the study' it was identified the difficulty of the mother in understanding the ophthalmologlic diagnosis and its implications for the global development of the child. This study proposes the importance to facilitate the access of the visual impairment the interventions centers and also the participation of the ophthalmologists in early referring these children with visual deficiency / Mestrado / Mestre em Neurociencias
