Esta tesis doctoral ofrece un estudio de la presencia del mito de Quetzalcóatl en la dramaturgia mexicana desde su inserción en la escena teatral en 1877, prestando especial atención al siglo XX y, más concretamente, a la segunda mitad del siglo. La investigación contempla una primera parte contextual en la que se atiende a la evolución del arquetipo mítico quetzalcoatliano desde las primeras fuentes de origen precolombino hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XX. De este modo, se comprende cómo ha sido la inserción de la Serpiente Emplumada en el imaginario colectivo mexicano y, por tanto, qué características del personaje han sido recuperadas para la producción dramática. En la segunda parte de la tesis se han recuperado una serie de textos dramáticos que giran en torno a la figura de Quetzalcóatl y que, por ello, se inscriben en un corpus textual y artístico más amplio que da cuenta del proceso de construcción/reconstrucción de un discurso histórico e identitario mexicano. En este sentido, se muestra cómo las piezas de temática quetzalcoatliana plantean diversas lecturas del pasado y pueden llegar a ofrecer alternativas a la versión histórica e identitaria difundida por el poder en México. / This doctoral thesis provides a study of the presence of Quetzalcoatl myth in Mexican dramatic art since its incorporation into the scene in 1877, with particular attention to the 20th century and, more specifically, the second half of the century. However, the research includes an initial contextual section that examines the evolution of the Quetzalcoatl mythical archetype from its earliest pre-Columbian sources to the second half of the 20th century. In this way, it is understood how the Feathered Serpent has been integrated into the Mexican collective imagination and which characteristics of the Quezalcóatl have been reclaimed for dramatic production. In the second part of the thesis, we have recovered a series of dramatic texts about Quetzalcoatl. This texts ar part of a broader textual and artistic corpus that elucidates the process of constructing/reconstructing the Mexican historical and identity discourse. In this regard, it is demonstrated how the pieces with Quetzalcoatl themes propose diverse readings of the past and can provide alternatives to the historical and identity narrative disseminated by the authorities in Mexico.
