Visualization of Lnu's Publication NetworkSun, Wenyi, Yu, Chunmiao January 2011 (has links)
DiVA, Academic Archive On-line, is a website which can provide the information from the most academic publications of Swedish Universities. The information includes the title, author, publication data, and so on. The aim of this project is to design a tool to visualize the co-authorship publication network and be able to transform the data into a more readable form. For parsing and visualizing data, the tool adopts the “InforVis Reference” model. Here a set of interaction and visualization technologies are adopted, so that it can create view base on user’s query with increasing the usability. In this thesis, we present a “use case” by applying our tool to visualize a part of articles published at Linnaeus University and to illustrate the capability and functions of the tool. The tool can also provide user a comfortable operating environment with a quick searching speed and high efficiency; it can be used anywhere, if internet is available.

Patientsäker överrapportering : Hur kan den utformas? / Secure handover of patients : How can it be design?Persson, Sara, Eliasson, Jenny January 2012 (has links)

Manganese phosphate coating mini-line labElghoul, Zoelfikar January 2013 (has links)
The following report is conducted in collaboration with the University of Halmstad. As the development of today's vehicles demands environmentalregulations require reduced emissions of CO2, performance, economy and safety, Lighter and efficient vehicles in transmission, this intensive development coupledwith re-optimization of the conflicting demands driveability, durability, efficiency and noise comfort. During the past 10 year the design margins hasbeen reduced. This means that the former research experience must be renewedfor development continues. As a part of the research conducted at HalmstadUniversity is an interest in being able to prepare these surfaces in different ways,in a lab environment. In this thesis, two processes in question, manganesephosphate and coating treatment. The purpose of this project is to construct a mini lab which will achieve theprocess of the surface treatment of machine element components in a laboratoryenvironment. The purpose of this project is to design and control the process which willconfigure all the details and specification required to achieve stagesof phosphate process as well the properties of every details in the chain ofimmersion and safety environment during the process stages, the task alsoincluding Risk analysis. The method that used was the same that was used by us during earlier courses inconstruction method written by Fredy Olsson, method principle /primary andmanufacturing. The development of the design has been done using brainstorming. The basic idea is a common idea where this since developed into aprototype.

Role and Importance of NS1 Protein of Avian Influenza Virus to Grow in the Presence of Interferon and Evaluation of the NS1 Mutant Viruses as Potential DIVA VaccinesBrahmakshatriya, Vinayak 2009 August 1900 (has links)
A proper vaccination program can play a critical role in prevention and control of
avian influenza (AI) in commercial poultry. Low pathogenic avian influenza viruses
(LPAIV) of H5 and H7 AI subtypes cause serious economic losses to the poultry
industry and have the potential to mutate to highly pathogenic AI (HPAI) strains. Due to
trade implications, differentiation of infected from vaccinated animals (DIVA) is an
important issue in the control of AI. Therefore, the development and characterization of
vaccine candidates with DIVA properties is critical in improving vaccination programs.
Keeping these aspects in mind, we investigated the role of an NS1 mutant virus as a
potential live attenuated DIVA vaccine. The NS1 protein of influenza virus plays a
major role in blocking the host's antiviral response. Using an eight-plasmid reverse
genetics system, we recovered the low pathogenic parental (H5N3) and NS1 mutant
(H5N3/NS1/144) viruses. H5N3/NS1/144 expresses only the first 144 amino acids of the NS1 protein compared to the 230 of the parental H5N3. The growth properties of H5N3
and H5N3/NS1/144 were compared in cell culture and in different age embryonated
chicken eggs. Our results confirmed that NS1 is involved in down regulation of
interferon as shown by IFN-beta mRNA expression analysis and by the inability of
H5N3/NS1-144 to efficiently grow in older age, interferon competent, chicken embryos.
However with regards to safety the virus reverted to virulence within five back passages
in chickens and was therefore not a safe vaccine candidate. However the killed form of
H5N3/NS1-144 was a safer alternative and it also induced antibody titers and protection
not significantly different from the parental H5N3 as vaccine. To further understand the
reversion of H5N3/NS1/144 to virulence, we carried out 3 independent serial passages of
H5N3/NS1/144 in increasing age of embryonated chicken eggs and examined the NS1
gene for presence of mutations. RT-PCR and sequence analysis of the NS gene in all
three lineages showed the presence of a 54 amino acid deletion resulting in the
generation of a 87 amino acids long NS1 ORF with a point mutation (L80V) at the site of
deletion. In addition, the NS1 ORF in lineages L2 and L3 presented two additional point
mutations in the RNA binding domain (Q40R and T73M). To determine if these
mutations played a role in increased virulence, recombinant viruses expressing these
mutant NS1 proteins in the background of parental virus were generated by reverse
genetics and their replication properties and pathogenicity was examined in vitro, in ovo
and in vivo systems.
Our results showed that the 87 amino acid long NS1 protein clearly increased
virus replication and virulence specifically in interferon competent systems. In addition, the two point mutations in the RNA binding domain of NS1 ORF expressing 87 a protein
slightly increased the virus virulence.
Overall this study reinforces the role of NS1 in influenza virus pathogenicity and
supports the use of killed inactivated NS1 mutant virus vaccines as potential DIVA
vaccines.

Transparency in Global Value Chains : A Case Study on How Swedish Firms in Global Value Chains Perceive Their Level of TransparencyÖhrn Lundin, Josefin January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is a qualitative case study on how Swedish companies operating in global valuechains percieve their level of transparency concerning social- and environmental aspects, andhow they manage this work. The thesis contributes to existing literature since it draw attentionto the role of transparency concerning social- and environmental aspects and study howcompanies operating in global value chains actually perceive their level of transparency. Theanalysis and results in this thesis is based on interviews with sustainability experts within fivedifferent Swedish companies operating in global value chains. The companies in this studydiffer in size and belong to different industries. The result shows that companies in this studydo not perceive transparency as an issue in itself; rather the ability to control the chains has animpact on the level of transparency. The level of control seems to depend on resources andstakeholders pressure, and differ depending on industry and size of the company. In thisstudy, the larger companies have more resources to control their chains than the smallercompanies and therefore they have a higher level of transparency.
