A investigação é realizada a partir da análise do filme israelense Valsa com Bashir (2008), que se tornou um marco na história da não-ficção ao radicalizar tendências que há décadas vinham se constituindo de forma marginal aos postulados clássicos dessa cinematografia, encarnados, sobretudo, no estilo cinema direto e cinéma vérité. A obra do diretor Ari Folman propõe um mergulho na memória de seus personagens, construindo-se a partir de suas subjetividades. Consegue, assim, trazer para o discurso realista característico do documentário elementos pouco usuais como sonhos, alucinações e reminiscências carregadas de traumas e culpas. Mais que isso, Valsa com Bashir dá vida a tais elementos intangíveis, representando-os na realidade imagética por meio da técnica da animação, estruturando uma história em que o mundo fático e o mundo da imaginação misturam-se e revezam-se de forma caótica. Tudo isso tendo como pano de fundo um dos mais infames episódios das seis décadas de embate entre israelenses e palestinos na Terra Santa: o massacre de Sabra e Chatila durante a Guerra do Líbano em 1982. Ao expor a dor dos ex-combatentes e ao reconhecer a tragédia palestina, Valsa com Bashir aproxima-se de parte expressiva da cinematografia produzida atualmente em Israel, que caracteriza-se por apresentar visões alternativas acerca do conflito. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / A reflection about the language and the narrative strategies of the contemporary documentary cinema is the purpose of this project. The research is carried out from the analysis of the Israeli full-length film Waltz with Bashir (2008), which became a milestone in the nonfiction history by radicalizing tendencies which had been constituted on the borderline of the classical postulates of the nonfiction cinematography for decades, embodied, especially, in styles like the direct cinema and the cinéma vérité. The film directed by Ari Folman comes up with an excursion throughout the depths of character’s memories, building up its storyline through their subjectivities. Thereby, it brings unusual elements like dreams, hallucinations and recollections replete of trauma and guilt to the documentary’s realistic discourse. More than that, Waltz with Bashir gives life to these intangible elements, depicting it on the imagery reality through animation techniques, structuring a story where the factual world and the imaginary one mix and switch among themselves chaotically. All this considering as background one of the most infamous episodes of the six decades of clashes between Israelis and Palestinians in the Holy Land: the massacre of Sabra and Chatila during the Lebanon War in 1982. By exposing the former soldiers pain and recognizing the Palestinian tragedy, Waltz with Bashir approaches to significant part of the current cinematography produced in Israel, characterized by presenting alternative points of view about the Israel-Palestine conflict.
