This Master's thesis focuses on the development of companies especially using the mergers and acquisitions. In the theoretical part, basic concepts and correct theoretical procedures of this type of companies' development are introduced. The main idea of the analytical part was inspired by the company EDUA Group, Ltd, which acquired another two companies. The goal of both acquisitions was to ensure to the company's profitability. The aim of this part of the thesis is to analyze the current profitability of company now and find the problems in the acquisition process. The evaluation of both processes is based on financial analysis and also the analysis of non-financial factors. The results of undertaken non-financial analyses show areas where more attention is to be paid in order to avoid the complications during possible future acquisitions. The main parts which affected the procedures are attitude towards employees, the market position of the acquiring company, financial situation and the timing. The result of the financial analysis shows that the primary task of acquisition was fulfilled as it helped the company to get from the loss to the profit.

Implementing ESI Education Project for Nurses in the Triage ProcessTran, Narissara L 01 January 2019 (has links)
Triage nursing assessment supports nursing professionals in delivering safe and effective patient care in emergency departments. This staff education project was driven by an observation of inconsistencies in triage among emergency department (ED) nursing staff. The purpose of the project was to improve the triage assessment knowledge of ED nurses. Specifically, the aim was to determine if educating ED nursing staff about using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI), a 5-level triage algorithm and a previously developed tool, would improve nurse knowledge in the triage process. Following discussion with the ED nursing manager at a hospital, a presentation on the ESI was developed and pre- and posttest questions were used to assess and enhance the nursing staff members triage knowledge. The 16 members of the ED nursing staff attended the ESI education session, which was preceded by a pretest and followed by a posttest. The pretest results ranged from 68% to 96% on the 25 items, and the posttest resulted in an increase in test scores. The p value on the sample t test was 0.000, which demonstrated that the training was effective. The outcomes of this project might promote positive social change by helping to ensure that nurses in the ED can improve triage assessment

Impact of the Budgetary Type ¡§ Local Education Development Fund¡¨ on School Management¡Xa Case Study in Kaohsiung CityLiu, Su-e 04 August 2011 (has links)
The Local Education Development Fund was established by the Kaohsiung City Government according to the Compilation and Administration of Education Expenditures Act in 2003 and was operated as affiliated unit budget. Affiliated unit budget, which has the autonomy of distribution and flexibility of the execution, tallying with school-based management which are influenced by the educational reform trend, therefore was generally approved by educational administrators. However, according to the research¡¦s analysis, there was no significance on the encouragement of raising funds and there was difference between deposition of the accumulated surplus into the normal cost and the general financial concept.
What kind of system on earth is the implementation of Kaohsiung Local Education Development Fund at the school managers, the principals¡¦ points of view? Furthermore, are their opinions changing with time? Has the affiliated unit budget exerted any influence on school management¡HHow can the merits of the affiliated unit budget be used to coping with the shortening of educational budgets after the combining of Kaohsiung City and Kaohsiung County and to exalt the spirit of school-based management and to promote civils¡¦ education. These are issues worth those people¡¦s discussion who care about civils¡¦ education and these are also the concerns of the research.
The research adopted nature research and grounded theory to interview seven principals in primary schools and junior high schools in Kaohsiung City. The research explored interviewees¡¦ cognitions and opinions on Local Education Development Fund and their strategies and measures based on their experiences, and inquired the influence of Local Education Development Fund (which is based on affiliated unit budget), on school managements by means of Atlas.ti techniques.
According to the research¡¦ analysis, though Kaohsiung Local Education Development Fund possesses the meaning of school-based budgeting. The practice can help the municipal avoid invest excessive capital in schools which has surplus of budget with the aid of controlling the cumulation on surplus budgets. Furthermore, in the interaction of administrative departments, there are strategic changes in financial execution which are less related to the types of budgeting, but more related to School Budget Evaluation implemented by the Educational Bureau. Besides, the budgeting has little effect on encouragements to increasing income and decreasing expenditure but enlarges gaps among schools and causes disadvantages to remote small schools. To sum up, the distribution of educational budget is more important than budgeting.

In this study, I aimed to examine the impact of different levels of education on real GDP (and real GDP per workforce) in Turkey, and hence the relationship between different levels of education and the standard of living is estimated by panel data techniques. The panel data set in the study is constructed by pooling 67 provinces of Turkey over the period of 1975-2000. Furthermore, in the empirical work, two models are employed: the model introduced by Knowles (1997) and the augmented Solow model with different levels of education. The panel data estimation of the Knowles&rsquo / s model implies that the secondary level of schooling has the greatest contribution to real GDP, while the augmented Solow model implies that the higher level of schooling has the largest impact on real GDP per workforce.

This thesis is meant to describe and analyze approach of international organizations in relation to education, development and empowerment as well as their role at the intersection of these three concepts. In its attempt to understand the nature of international involvement in education with a development discourse and particularly to see the effects of this involvement on the target groups of the projects and programs, the thesis explores Multi-Purpose Community Centers (Ç / ATOMs) in Turkey&rsquo / s southeast. The thesis identifies, on the one hand, that the Ç / ATOM project supports the analyses in the literature regarding the role of international organizations in the institutionalization of the idea of &lsquo / education for development&rsquo / and in the standardization and dissemination of their own discourses about this idea. On the other hand, the current work proposes that Ç / ATOMs as a project supported by international organizations have produced rather limited but meaningful outcomes in terms of its economic effects on the participants / however, more importantly, it has also created qualitative changes on the daily life of the beneficiaries, which may contribute to social transformation of the region in the long term.

School Fees and Primary Education in Sub-Saharan Africa, 1970-2011Tinker, Katherine Anne 19 August 2011 (has links)
Education broadens the life choices and capabilities of those who receive it, and confers external benefits to society as a whole. In sub-Saharan Africa, a major issue concerning school attendance among the poor has been the direct monetary costs represented by primary school “user” fees, which became particularly commonplace in sub-Saharan African countries during the post-colonial period. While fees have been advocated in the past as a way for impoverished governments to fund the improvement and expansion of primary education, in more recent years the position of the international development community has shifted in favour of fee abolition as a means of achieving Universal Primary Education. This thesis examines the long-term relationship between school fees and education quality and access over the past 40 years in seven sub-Saharan African countries. I find that the introduction of fees decreased primary school enrolment, primarily by keeping the poorest children out of school, without achieving significant quality improvements. A fall-off in government spending following the introduction of fees is presented as a possible explanation. I also focus on the quality impacts associated with the major increases in enrolment following fee abolition, and emphasize the importance of government commitment to making up the funding shortfall generated by this policy change.

Community education in Indiana from 1965-1987 : an oral historyFarley, Lisa A. January 2005 (has links)
From 1965 through the 1980's, community education was endorsed and promoted in Indiana by the C.S. Mott Foundation of Flint, Michigan. The Mott Foundation issued nearly $2 million in grant money to the Institute for Community Education Development (ICED) at Ball State University to encourage local communities in Indiana and a four-state region to develop community education programs and processes. This money was granted to Ball State University and the ICED for several purposes: 1) to promote the concept of Community Education, 2) to provide and manage seed money incentive grants made to local public school corporations who adopted the concept, 3) to provide training and academic programs to local program leaders, and 4) to support the development of Community Education in the state through consultant services and other appropriate forms of assistance. After twenty-two years of activity and investment, the Mott Foundation-focused development of community education in Indiana through the Institute for Community Education Development (ICED) was phased out.This research was conducted using an Oral History methodology in which a thorough literature review was completed, ICED yearly reports and other literature provided background and triangulation, and eight interviewees were interviewed and audio-recorded for a total of twenty-one interviews. Recordings were each transcribed and stored by the principle investigator. Participants were interviewed a total of one to three times each, dependent upon the information obtained during each interview.This study provides a written historical report of some of the developments of community education in the State of Indiana that were due, in part, to the ICED consultants. This study also describes the community education development strategies in Indiana by the ICED staff. Additionally, this study reports some of the strengths and weaknesses of the strategies utilized by ICED professionals in Indiana's development of community education as reported by the interviewees. Those interested in educational development may utilize this study to gain insights from some of the lessons found in Indiana's Community Education development experience from 1965 through 1987. / Department of Educational Studies
