Evropská hospodářská a měnová unie: Základy teorie OCA versus Maastrichtská kritéria / Economic and Monetary Union - Basics of the theory of OCA versus Maastricht criteria

Paráková, Veronika January 2009 (has links)
In my diploma thesis, I study optimality of the European Economic and Monetary Union on basis of principles of the Theory of Optimum Currency Areas -- OCA, with special attention to the criterion defined by R.A.Mundell. I point out some rigidities of the European labor market because of which this criterion is not met. On basis of an assumption that the more countries meet these criteria, the more suitable candidates for an entry of the monetary union they are, I reach a conclusion that EMU is not an optimal monetary zone. Nonetheless, the thesis does not ignore a hypothesis of the endogenous character of the OCA theory criteria, i.e. that they can be met even after an entry of the monetary union. Furthermore, with respect to the OCA theory criteria, I study appropriateness of the set Maastricht Convergence Criteria for evaluation of preparedness of countries for an entry of the EMU. The thesis also deals with potential revenues and costs of the introduction of euro in the Czech Republic. At the end of the thesis, I suggest potential alternatives of future development of EMU with respect to the current problems of the monetary union.

Menová politka NBS a prijatie eura / The monetary policy of the National Bank of Slovakia and the adoption of euro

Hanuščáková, Valéria January 2011 (has links)
The topic of the thesis is the monetary policy of the National Bank of Slovakia and the adoption of euro. The content of the thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The first part is devoted to the main representative of monetary policy in Slovakia, the National Bank of Slovakia, and description of the activities performed and the tools used while implementing the policy. In addition, the work focuses on the prerequisite of adoption of the common European currency, namely the formation and the history of the economic and monetary union. The main objective, the practical part of the thesis, is the secondary research analysis devoted to the implementation of monetary policy of the National Bank of Slovakia from the Bank's formation itself, through very important events such as change in FX rate in 1998, access to the ERM II system in 2005, adoption of euro in 2009 till the present time. In the final chapter, the thesis focuses on the evaluation of euro adoption in Slovakia via primary research conducted through questionnaire designed for Slovak citizens. Closure part consists of my personal analysis of euro implementation whereby I'll remit to advantages just as disadvantages which have been caused by our new mutual currency.

Krizové aspekty dluhu Itálie / Critical Aspects of the Italian Debt

Černohorský, David January 2014 (has links)
The work examines the hypothesis that the Italian debt has already reached its critical level and the creditors no longer trust the country. I concluded that it's far from having reached its critical level. Despite the rising debt and internal problems, Italy borrows more cheaply than before and thanks to economic growth and some reforms we can expect this trend to continue. On the other hand, the country still has major structural problems and struggles with high unemployment and declining competitiveness. In the case of failure to introduce necessary reforms, in a longer-term can Italy suffer by significant problems.

Souvislosti úvěrového a hospodářského cyklu / Relationship between credit and business cycle

Jůza, Jaromír January 2012 (has links)
Excessive lending activity of banks is considered to be one of the causes of the recent financial and economic crisis. The theme of this thesis is to evaluate the relation of credit and the business cycle in the euro area countries and explore the differences which have been among these countries recorded. The primary objective of this work is the analysis of the credit cycle in these countries and its develoment from 2000 to the present. The paper will address further the question of whether financial markets can create for themselves economic imbalances through endogenous credit "booms". First part will deal with the theory off business cycles, then with alternative approaches, namely the Financial Instability Hypothesis of Hyman Minsky and followed by the latest theoretical knowledge on the issue of credit cycles. The next part will focus on identifying and analysing factors playing the significant role in the development of the economy in the pre-crisis period. The following section will be devoted to the international comparison of the credit and business cycles in the euro area (selection of those states that were more resistant to crisis and those sensitive to the crisis). The conclusion will address some recommendations for the policies of central banks, which may in turn reduce the pro-cyclical effects of developing leverage.

Problém černého pasažera při ratingu eurozóny - případ Řecka / Stowaway Problem of Eurozone Rating - case Greece

Müller, Lukáš January 2015 (has links)
This thesis examines an impact of Greek membership in eurozone on a trustworthiness of Greek economy. In order to do that, it uses a methodology of rating agency Moody´s, on which it applies macroeconomic data. The goal is to identify key factor, which caused the discrepancy between awarded rating and real economic stability. The text itself is divided into two thematic parts. The first introduces an institution of rating Agency and explains the Sovereign Rating Methodology 2013. The second than analyze Greek economy using this methodology and applies findings on the causes of Greek debt crisis. Even though Greek membership in eurozone indeed lowered the interest rates of their bonds, direct impact of this membership on country rating wasn´t proved. Therefore one of the reasons of Greek crisis was also a moral hazard, when the financial markets relied on the fact, that eurozone will not let a member state go bankrupt.
