  • The Global ETD Search service is a free service for researchers to find electronic theses and dissertations. This service is provided by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
Our metadata is collected from universities around the world. If you manage a university/consortium/country archive and want to be added, details can be found on the NDLTD website.

Interrelationships Among Large-Scale Atmospheric Circulation Regimes and Surface Temperature Anomalies in the North American Arctic

Smolinski, Kelly Katherine 08 July 2004 (has links)
The focus of this study is to examine the mechanisms involved in the interactions among large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns and how they are related to surface air temperature anomalies in the North American Arctic. Historical temperature data sets of Fairbanks, Alaska and Montreal, Quebec have been analyzed with respect to large-scale atmospheric circulation index data sets to investigate surface temperature anomalies in winter during the period 1960 to 2002.

A Numerical model for assessing the influence of snow cover on the ground thermal regime

Goodrich, Laurel Everett. January 1976 (has links)
Note: / The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a numerical model for simulating the influence of seasonal snow cover on the ground thermal regime. The physical processes occurring within the snow pack and underlying ground, as well as at the surface, are reviewed from the viewpoint of their eventual inclusion in a practical numerical model. A finite difference heat conduction model suitable for long-term studies of the snow-ground thermal interaction is presented. This model incorporates a numerical prediction of density and temperature profiles within an evolving snow cover. Phase change within the ground is treated by a new numerical method which has important computational advantages over older methods.[...]

Ice cover and surface heat fluxes in Baffin Bay.

Walmsley, John L. January 1966 (has links)
Latent and sensible heat fluxes at the surface of Baffin Bay are calculated throughout the year using, in addition to the essential meteorological data and surface temperatures, values of the ice cover corresponding to three different periods of years, ranging from 1919 to 1965. [...]
