Recruitment Strategies for Manufacturers in Northwest Louisiana

Pierre, Markey W. 01 January 2017 (has links)
Acquiring information about successful human resources strategies that help to effectively recruit skilled labor is critical for manufacturers. Manufacturing is the backbone of the United States, yet 6 of 10 skilled labor jobs are unfilled because traditional methods and strategies used by human resource leaders to recruit are inadequate. Guided through the lens of strategic human resource management and using the concepts and views of resource-based theory, the purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies that manufacturing human resource professionals use to successfully recruit skilled labor in Northwest Louisiana. The data collection for this case study was performed through face-to-face semistructured interviews via purposeful sampling and company documents that included planning materials, corporate hiring strategy documents, and the company website. Data were coded and analyzed to obtain the development of a set of recurring themes. The 4 relevant themes that emerged from the coded data included the following: recruitment methods, external pressures of the region/marketplace, outreach and education partnerships, and leadership support. By implementing strategies supported by senior leadership, human resource professionals have greater levels of success in hiring skilled labor. Implications for positive social change include providing an opportunity for human resource professionals in the manufacturing industry to develop innovative ideas and solutions to respond to the nascent recruitment challenges for skilled labor positions, thereby reducing unemployment and contributing to the local economy.

Obsazování volných pracovních míst v neziskových organizacích (případová studie) / The filling of vacancies in nonprofit organizations (case studies)

Thürlová, Zuzana January 2015 (has links)
Zuzana Thürlová. The filling of vacancies in nonprofit organizations (case studies). Prague, Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, 2015. 87 p. Thesis. This thesis examines the process of filling vacancies in nonprofit organizations. The topic is dealt with by a case study of two specific benevolent societies providing social services. First I create a theoretical framework for the topic of filling vacancies, using scientific literature. Specifically, I focus on the analysis and description of jobs, methods of recruitment and selection of staff and adaptation of new employees. Subsequently, using methods of qualitative research strategy, I analyze my own data obtained for setting up a more efficient process of filling vacancies in the organization, which should contribute to the stabilization and development of the team. Simultaneously the outputs of my work are not just recommendations. Also specific documents were developed for the Personnel books (listed in Appendix), set a new system of adaptation process and part of the proposed changes have already been implemented and evaluated as fruitful. Keywords: job analysis, job description, employee recruitment, employee selection methods, worker adaptation

Návrat rodičů na trh práce po rodičovské dovolené očima personalistů a personalistek / Parents returning to work after parental leave in the eyes of recruiters

Marková, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
Work, and more particularly paid work, is an essential part of decent human existence. Current conditions on the Czech labour market cannot be considered friendly towards parenthood and parenting duties. The common pressure to fully adjust to the employer's needs and very limited opportunities of family-friendly forms of employment together with other factors have led to a situation where parents of small children (and particularly mothers) find themselves in a disadvantageous position. Family policies do not aim to improve that position and institutional child care does not have sufficient capacity. The qualitative research undertaken for the purpose of this thesis therefore focuses on personal managers as representatives of employers in the employee recruitment process, more precisely on conceptions (stereotypes) personal managers have of men and women, of parents in general and most importantly of parents returning to the labour market after their parental leave. It is very important to research these conceptions (stereotypes) because they are an integral part of the employee selection process and are reflected in the decision-making about hiring/not hiring an individual for a position.

Řízení lidských zdrojů ve vybrané organizaci / Human resource management in the selected company

ŠESTÁKOVÁ, Denisa January 2015 (has links)
The main aim of this thesis was to analyze the present status of human ressource management (HRM) in the selected company and to provide suggestions for its impro-vement. For the practical part was chosen Porsche České Budějovice company which ranks to the most important dealers in the automotive industry in South Bohemia thanks to the professional attitude of its staff and excellent facilities. The practical part is based on a managed interview with the top manager of the selected company to desribe the human resource management from his own perspective. Further an analysis of the work organization in a selected department will be realized to be able to make a suggestion for its efficiency improvement. At last a survey between the employees will be carried out to analyze staff satisfaction with the motivational program. The aim is to find out the relevant motivational factors in compliance with the staff preferences. The top management considers HRM positively especially in case of education. In some aspects the management admits also weaknesses. Firstly, employee evaluation must be mentioned because it is realized only at the level of the middle management. An objective evaluation of all employees could be used to reward and motivate them to higher performance. The job evaluation is closely linked with exploration of work per-formance. The analysis of work organization revealed that its staff spends a significant part of the work time with paper work. Therefore I suggest to recruit a new employee who would make them possible to concentrate on customer care. A pay for the success-ful "mystery shopping" could motivate the sales staff as well as complete a fair reward system. Secondly a further weakness, an inflexible internal communication can be eli-minated through an effective use of available communication tools. Based on data from the survey the staff expressed their interest in new elements of the motivational pro-gram: a further week of vacation, contributions to pension insurance, new leisure activi-ties like squash. From my point of view, the motivational program is varied and stable offering a guarantee to the staff as well as potential for staff satisfaction improvement.
