No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2013-08-19 / The main objective of this study was to investigate the implications of student participation in the international academic exchange programs offered by UNIFOR to the process of qualification of the students involved, in terms of human capital and cultural formation. The theoretical referential presented the evolution and internationalization of higher education in Brazil under the current process of globalization, divided into two topics: i) the internationalization of higher education in Brazil and worldwide; and ii) the internationalization of education through academic exchange programs, focusing on student formation in human and cultural capital. A basic qualitative research was conducted. The access to the subjects of the research was made through the UNIFOR database on undergraduate students who participated in exchange programs between the years 2001 and 2012. Data collection was done via semi-structured questionnaires and documental analysis. Cluster analysis was applied to the quantifiable data and qualitative information were described and classified in a way to make possible to established interconnections. As result it was observed that student participation in the international academic exchange programs of UNIFOR has been positive, academically as well as in practical life, since knowing a different educational system, learning another language, experiencing a new culture, with new habits and values, are important aspects influencing the formation of human and cultural capital. Human and Cultural Capital. / O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar as implicações da participação discente nos programas de intercâmbios acadêmicos internacionais oferecidos pela UNIFOR para o processo de qualificação dos intercambistas, em termos da formação de capital humano e cultural. A fundamentação teórica apresentou a evolução e a internacionalização do ensino superior no Brasil no contexto do processo de globalização vigente, dividido em dois tópicos: i) a internacionalização do ensino superior no Brasil e no mundo; e ii) a internacionalização da educação por meio de programas de intercâmbio, focando na formação discente em capital humano e cultural. Foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa básica. O acesso aos sujeitos da pesquisa se deu por meio do banco de dados da UNIFOR de alunos de graduação que participaram de intercâmbio entre os anos de 2001 e 2012. A coleta de dados foi feita usandose questionário semiestruturado e análise de documentos. Os dados numéricos foram tratados por meio da análise de conglomerados e as informações qualitativas foram descritas e classificadas de forma a serem estabelecidas interconexões. Como resultado, observou-se que a participação discente nos programas de intercâmbios acadêmicos internacionais da UNIFOR foi positiva para os intercambistas, tanto em termos acadêmicos, como em função da experiência em conhecer sistemas de ensino diferentes, aprender outro idioma, conhecer outra cultura, lidar com novos hábitos e valores, tudo influindo diretamente na formação de capital humano e cultural.
