Defesa: Curitiba, 26/08/2016 / Inclui referências : f. 326-344 / Resumo: O presente trabalho investiu na investigação de um gênero híbrido de narrativa textual, no limite entre o jornalismo esportivo e a literatura: a crônica sobre os esportes. Para tanto, escolhermos uma série de autores/cronistas que atuaram no Jornal dos Sports, ao longo da década de 1950. O objetivo central da pesquisa foi perceber em que medida estes narradores tinham a autonomia suficiente para criar e recriar representações culturais e sociais em torno dos esportes, além de descobrir quais eram estas posições. Apesar de o futebol ter dominado as pautas da imprensa esportiva ao longo de todo o século XX, como os campeonatos regionais, as Copas do Mundo e a Copa Rio, entendemos que outros assuntos foram debatidos por estes cronistas como a cobertura dos Jogos Olímpicos, tudo isso sob a luz da linha editorial deste jornal, que valorizava a prática do denuncismo e a do clubismo, dentre outras. Desta forma, poderemos ter uma visão mais ampla e profunda da história da imprensa esportiva, que não passe necessariamente pela exclusiva atuação de um único jornalista, Mário Filho, espécie de mito fundador da comunicação esportiva. Palavras-chave: Crônica Esportiva - Jornal dos Sports - Hibridismo literário / Abstract: This work invested in research of a hybrid genre of textual narrative, the boundary between sports journalism and literature: a chronicle of sports. Therefore, choose a number of authors/writers who worked in the Jornal dos Sports, throughout the decade of 1950. The central objective of the research was to see to what extent these narrators had sufficient autonomy to create and recreate cultural and social representations about sports, and find out what were these positions. Although football has dominated the agendas of the sporting press throughout the twentieth century, as the regional championships, the World Cup and the Rio Cup, we understand that other issues were discussed by these chroniclers as the coverage of the Olympic Games, all that in the light of the editorial of this newspaper, which valued the practice of denunciation and the clubism, among others. In this way, we can have a broader and deeper view of the history of the sports press, which does not necessarily pass by the exclusive action of a single journalist Mário Filho, a kind of founding myth of sports communication.
