Its aim is to check the lexicon and the subjectivity elements that make that work of reading and understanding the exercises statements easier or harder for the student. In doing so, one tries to answer the following question: why don t the students understand the exercise statements in Portuguese? In the quest for that answer, one starts from the hypothesis according to which students do not understand the exercises statements because they do not master reading. The corpus of this research is made of exercises statements taken from students books, which have been read and reported by the subject participants of this research, by means of verbal acts. The analysis has researched upon the following: i) the reading comprehension of exercises statements experienced by the students; ii) the lexical obstacles found on their way; and iii) the elements of subjectivity present in the exercises statements that make their job easier or harder to perform. The results of such a research confirm the initial hypothesis. Moreover, they show that the resolution of the proposed exercises depend on the reading comprehension of the students of its statements. One can thus confirm that the lexical ability of the students strongly interferes on the reading comprehension of the exercises statements, and also that the elements of subjectivity of the language can perform as a facilitator on the reading comprehension of those exercises statements / Esta pesquisa decorre de inquietações provindas de observações feitas em sala de aula sobre a leitura e compreensão de enunciados de exercícios de língua portuguesa voltados para o trabalho de compreensão textual. Ela tem como objetivo verificar o léxico e as marcas de subjetividade na linguagem como elementos facilitadores ou dificultadores na compreensão leitora de enunciados de exercícios de língua portuguesa. Buscamos responder à seguinte pergunta de pesquisa: Por que os alunos não compreendem enunciados de exercícios de língua portuguesa? Partimos da hipótese de que os alunos não compreendem os enunciados de exercícios porque não dominam o ato de ler. O corpus deste trabalho constitui-se de enunciados de exercícios de livro didático que foram lidos e relatados pelos sujeitos desta pesquisa por meio de protocolo verbal. A análise dos dados investigou: i. a compreensão leitora de enunciados de exercícios dos participantes; ii. os obstáculos de ordem lexical encontrados; e iii. as marcas de subjetividade nos enunciados de exercícios como elementos facilitadores ou dificultadores para a compreensão leitora. Os resultados desta pesquisa confirmam a hipótese levantada. Além disso, revelaram que a resolução dos enunciados de exercícios de um texto depende da compreensão deste, como também da compreensão daqueles. Podemos constatar que a competência lexical de nossos discentes interfere na compreensão leitora de enunciados de exercícios e que as marcas de subjetividade na linguagem possam constituir-se como elementos facilitadores na compreensão leitora dos enunciados de exercícios
