Surrounded by different meanings, the happening was seen as a great opportunity to show off the economic, social and political development of the state of Rio Grande do Sul at the time. Reaffirming the press’s relevance as source of history through the method of Content Analysis, this study discusses many of the newspapers’ takes on the matter and also attempts to identify, in the journalistic pages, motivations behind historical figures participating in and organizing the Exposition. / Esta pesquisa tem como cerne analisar os principais temas e assuntos publicados em A Federação e no Correio do Povo em relação à Exposição do Centenário da Revolução Farroupilha, evento realizado no Parque Farroupilha, em setembro de 1935. Cercado de diferentes significados, o evento foi tratado como uma grande oportunidade de demonstração do desenvolvimento econômico, social e político do Rio Grande do Sul. Reafirmando a relevância do uso da imprensa como fonte histórica, este estudo, a partir do método de Análise de Conteúdo, se propõe a discutir os diferentes destaques e ênfases do que foi publicado nestes dois jornais, bem como procura identificar, nas páginas dos mesmos, as motivações de diferentes sujeitos históricos que participaram e organizaram esta Exposição.
