Within this proposal the relations between the increasing economical dificulties, government politics and the FIERGS attitudes towards the redemocratization process, will be considered in this work. The period considered in this research has its beggining in 1974 on Geisel’s government, when the regime adopts a distension politics along with a timidly liberating measure (slow, gradual and safe). In this occasion, the industrial group, who was tradicionally identified with the agreement on the government’s political-economic choices, starts to give signs of opposition. From that point on it starts to unleash a change articulated in the conduct patterns of the FIERGS in order to maintain the Militar Regime. The period considered has its ende with the last days of Figueiredo’s government, that culminated with the end of military regime in Brazil. / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo descrever a participação da Federação da Indústria do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (FIERGS) no contexto político-econômico da abertura do regime militar. Dentro desta proposta a relação entre o agravamento das dificuldades econômicas, a política governamental e o comportamento da FIERGS frente ao processo de redemocratização, será detidamente considerado no corpo do trabalho. O período empreendido pela pesquisa tem início em 1974 com o governo Geisel, quando então o regime adota uma política de distensão com medidas timidamente liberalizantes (lenta, gradual e segura). Nesta ocasião, a classe industrial, que tradicionalmente era identificada com a orientação da política econômica que o regime praticava, começa a dar sinais de oposição a esta mesma política. A partir daí começa a desencadear uma alteração pronunciada nos padrões de comportamento deste setor estratégico para a manutenção do regime militar. O corte temporal tem seu término nos últimos dias do governo Figueiredo, com o fim do regime militar no Brasil.
