Transcendental faithGrundy, Jeremy January 1993 (has links)
Following the general view of faith provided by Paul Tillich as 'the state of being ultimately concerned,' the present work provides a topography of faith that is designed to reveal the intimate connections between faith and the development of personal identity. As the state of Being-for-one's-ultimate-concern, it is a person's faith which molds and shapes her own unique self, providing depth, direction, and unity to her life. / My understanding of faith is that it must be living faith, like living tissue, and this is true in the obvious sense that it is a life lived. Starting from the view that no individual's existence is self-justifying, what is presented is an existential analysis of our actual encounters with faith, brought to show up through the individual's active struggle in responding to the call of her own question-begging existence. This is the process of the making of the identity I have called transcendental faith.

Relative Effectiveness of Anti-poverty Nonprofit Organizations in Assisting a Below Poverty Population in Dallas County and Tarrant County: Recipients of Faith-based and Non Faith-based OrganizationsGregory, Callie 05 1900 (has links)
Recent orders from the executive branch of the United States’ government have encouraged participation from faith-based organizations in providing human services because they are more effective in aiding impoverished citizens. This study examined the effectiveness of faith-based and non faith-based anti-poverty nonprofit organizations to find if one organization type is more effective in providing social services. the data for this study were collected through a survey-questionnaire which was administered to a convenience sample of 82 participants seeking assistance from four different nonprofit organizations (two faith-based and two non faith-based) in Dallas County and Tarrant County. the results from this study indicated that when controlling for demographic and socio-economic variables, recipients from faith-based organizations were less likely to report that they at least received services desired as compared to those who visited a non faith-based organization. Therefore, non faith-based organizations were better at meeting the needs of respondents than faith-based organizations.

Good faith in insurance law: General and independent, not a duty but an interpretative principleHan, Yong Qiang 05 May 2020 (has links)
No / There is hardly any substantive difference between ‘utmost good faith’ and ‘good faith’. In insurance law there is not a general and independent duty to
act in good faith. This is because the requirement of good faith in insurance
law, although being both general and independent, is neither a statutory duty
nor a common-law duty the breach of which usually gives rise to a cause of
action. Instead it is an interpretative principle in the common law of
insurance. Similarly in civil law jurisdictions, it is not a legal duty either but instead an interpretative principle.
