Trata-se de um estudo de natureza investigativa, no qual se busca conhecer as identidades culturais dos rituais que compõem a manifestação, bem como, compreender como se dá o diálogo entre os principais sujeitos sociais que protagonizam a Festividade de São Benedito e a articulação estabelecida entre o Poder Público, Igreja Católica, Comunidade e Irmandade da Marujada de São Benedito de Bragança, com a finalidade de garantir a perpetuação da tradição. O enfoque tem a valorização da cultura local como um pilar para o desenvolvimento de um turismo mais sustentável, bem como, descreve o universo religioso dos atores, onde se percebe o valor das crenças e das representações religiosas no contexto regional. A riqueza sociocultural desses rituais permitiu observar os diversos momentos da festa e registrá-los durante a pesquisa de campo, do qual se incluem os processos de levantamentos bibliográficos, fotográficos, entrevistas e aplicação de questionários e sugestões para encaminhamentos futuros. A consciência respeitosa da festa transparece no perfil do povo bragantino que dedica os melhores momentos de suas vidas para mostrar o valor da Marujada de São Benedito de Bragança e ensinar que a tradição deve ser acolhida com respeito e reverência pelos bragantinos e visitantes, pois em sua essência ela dá vida e significado aos membros dessa família e enriquece a cultura de nosso país. _________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This dissertation analyzes the two century -old celebration that take place in the town of Bragança, Pará¡ during the Marujada rites in honor of Saint Benedict. It is a investigative study that aims to unveil the cultural identities of the Festivity and understand how the dialogue and the articulation among the protagonists themselves and the local Government, Community, Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Saint Benedict is established to perpetuate the tradition. The focus here was to demonstrate that valuing such cultural manifestations is essential for developing a sustainable regional tourism. It also describes the regional religious strength where the rituals take place and the many rich moments of the socio-cultural aspects that were recorded in the field work. Bibliography and photographic surveys and structured interviews were also carried out. The study shows that the conscious respect for the festivities was inherent of the Bragantine people who dedicate the best moment of their lives to show the Marujada to visitors and how it should be respected. The rituals give meaning and renew life in their families as it enriches the country‟s culture.
