Domestic equipment from eighteenth century Louisbourg : an evaluation of source use for material culture studies

Campbell, Anita. 04 November 2024 (has links)
The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Park, Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, houses an immense collection of 18th century artifacts, an extensive archives and a variety of inhouse experts. I have attempted to tap these resources for a study of the domestic life in 18th century Louisbourg based on its material culture and at the same time to study the potentials of the various types of sources for material culture studies in general. This has been attempted through a comparative study based on the domestic artifacts from 18 archaeological contexts and the objects listedin 18 after death inventories.
