Cette étude traite des ramifications socio-environnementales apportées par les changements dans les pratiques qui ont eu lieu dans le secteur de la pêche côtière, en particulier dans la pêche au homard de la région sud de la Gaspésie, au tournant des années 1990 et depuis. Elle vise plus précisément à mieux comprendre les impacts des transformations physiques et sociales, telles celles découlant des nouvelles politiques de conservation des ressources, des réglementations dans la pêche au homard et des initiatives locales, entre autres, sur les pratiques et les savoirs locaux des pêcheurs. La diminution de stock, les difficultés d'accès à la ressource, les marchés mondiaux, les difficultés d'assurer une relève, les changements climatiques et leurs impacts sur les écosystèmes sont autant d'enjeux ayant des impacts pour l'avenir de la pêche côtière de homard au Québec. Les sous-champs de l'anthropologie maritime et de l'écologie politique guident cette analyse. Ce mémoire emprunte aussi des éléments qui étudient le savoir écologique où une attention est portée, spécifiquement, au concept de savoir local. / This study deals with the socio-environmental ramifications of the changes in practices that have taken place in the coastal fishing industry, particularly the lobster fishery, of the southern Gaspé Peninsula since the 1990s. Its specific aim is to better understand the impacts of the physical and social transformations resulting from the new policies on the conservation of resources, the regulations governing the lobster fishing industry, and local initiatives, among others, on the practices and local knowledge of the fishermen. The decrease in the lobster stock, the difficulties in accessing the resource, the uncertainty of the global markets, the difficulties in ensuring the emergence of a new generation of fishermen, as well as climate change and its effects on ecosystems are all issues that will have an impact on the future of the inshore lobster fishery. This study has been guided by approaches borrowed from the fields of maritime anthropology and political ecology as well as by certain elements from the study of ecological knowledge, which focuses more specifically on the concept of local knowledge.
