This research was applied to the students of 2nd year/4th stage on studying Production Engineering at the Higher Education Institution. The research process involved: a) Utilizing galvanization as the main theme to motivate the learning process of the students; b) Increasing students’ prior knowledge of the galvanization theme; c) Bringing the labor market and the University together through technical visits to the companies of Marilia and the region; d) Proposing additional content to the menu of the Technical Engineering discipline. The exploratory research took a qualitative approach to assist in the collection and analysis of data. Data collection instruments were questionnaires that inquired on prior knowledge and then post-activities. The questionnaires consisted of two phases, one diagnostic and another one for evaluation. In the diagnostic phase, the students answered questions about previous knowledge of Electrochemistry and its applications. The second part of survey was administered after the instruction of new content. Based on the analysis of the answer categories and the correction of assessment tools applied to students, it was possible to observe the improvement in the learning process of the chemistry teaching. During the technical visits were observed the electroplating process for electrowinning and phosphating. The process of galvanizing phosphating is the most widely used in the industries of Marilia and region. / Da necessidade observada em visitas técnicas a empresas de Marília e região, em contratar um profissional que apresentasse conhecimentos prévios de galvanização e suas aplicações, foi proposta uma reformulação na ementa da disciplina de Química Tecnológica do curso de Engenharia de Produção. Esta pesquisa foi aplicada aos alunos do 2ºano/4ªetapa do curso de Engenharia de Produção da Instituição de Ensino Superior objeto de estudo. A sequência da pesquisa envolveu: a) utilizar a galvanização como tema gerador para motivar a aprendizagem dos alunos; b) levantar o conhecimento prévio dos alunos no tema galvanização; c) por meio de visitas técnicas a empresas de Marília e região aproximar o mercado de trabalho e a universidade; d) propor novos conteúdos para a ementa da disciplina de Química Tecnológica. A pesquisa foi de natureza exploratória e a metodologia teve a abordagem qualitativa para auxiliar na coleta e análise dos dados. Os instrumentos de coleta de dados foram questionários sobre os conhecimentos prévios e pós-atividades. A aplicação dos questionários teve duas fases, uma diagnóstica e outra para avaliação. Na fase diagnóstica, os alunos responderam um questionário sobre conhecimentos prévios de Eletroquímica e suas aplicações e em seguida após o desenvolvimento dos novos conteúdos foi aplicado um questionário pós-atividades. Pela análise das categorias das respostas, foi possível observar a construção do conhecimento trabalhado na aprendizagem do ensino de química. Durante as visitas técnicas foram observado os processos de galvanização por via eletrolítica e por fosfatização. O processo de galvanização por fosfatização é o mais utilizado nas indústrias de Marília e região.
