A Clinical case studyArey, James Blanding Unknown Date (has links)
Source: Dissertation Abstracts International, Volume: 41-05, Section: B, page: 1887. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--The Florida State University, 1980. / Significant trends in the areas of group treatment, behavioral approaches and halfway houses are reviewed. Seventeen discharged residents were studied showing that approximately 29% were readmitted to the State hospital. Other residents completed training programs, gained employment and remained self supporting. Immediate placement in vocational training programs appeared to have negative effects on some residents. For some residents a period of adjustment was necessary between admission to the halfway house and the start of a training program. An additional survey is made of eleven residents who were discharged during 1976-1977, and these data are compared with those from 1973-1974. A single resident is evaluated with psychological and behavioral measures. Her behaviors suggested that certain aspects of the halfway house program were helpful in assisting her in stopping her antisocial behaviors. The halfway house gave her a feeling of belonging. It became a place where she could feel useful and needed.
