Digital Generator Control Unit for Synchronous Brushless GeneratorMa, Xiangfei 20 May 2005 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the study, implementation and improvement of a digital Generator Control Unit (GCU) for a high-speed synchronous brushless generator. The control of variable frequency power system, a preferred candidate in More Electric Aircraft (MEA), becomes a big challenge. Compared with conventional analog GCU, digital GCU is a future trend due to the properties such as easy tuning, modification and no aging.
Control approaches adopted in the new GCU design is introduced. It has multiloop structure and model-based characteristics. Sensorless rotor position detection was used to finish Park transformation.
DSP+FPGA based controller hardware was developed in the lab. A set of hardware was designed to implement the control algorithms. VHDL-based software was developed for FPGA, which is working as a bridge between DSP and peripheral circuits. C-based software was designed to implement control algorithm inside DSP.
A testbed system was developed according to the lab capacity of CPES. The complete load transit responses were tested according to the standard ISO1540 and EN8420. Good match between simulation and experiment has been reached. Compared with benchmark controller, great improvement in both steady state and dynamic performance is realized.
A feasibility of using digital GCU in the next generation aircraft has been proved preliminarily. However, the challenge of reliability issues in digital system and software still needs further attention. / Master of Science

Application generators can bring several benefits in terms of productivity, as they automatically generate low-level artifacts based on higher abstraction level specifications. A major concern of application generators is their high development cost. Con- figurable application generators are those generators that can be adapted to give support in specific domains, i.e., they are considered as meta-generators through which it is possible to obtain specific application generators. This work presents an approach for software development supported by configurable application generators. It defines the architecture and main features of a configurable application generator and presents Captor, which is a configurable application generator developed to ease the creation of specific generators. Three case studies were conducted to show the configuration of the Captor tool to different application domains: objects persistence, business resource management and floating weather stations.

New Approaches And Experimental Studies On - Alegebraic Attacks On Stream CiphersPillai, N Rajesh 08 1900 (has links) (PDF)
Algebraic attacks constitute an effective class of cryptanalytic attacks which have come up recently. In algebraic attacks, the relations between the input, output and the key are expressed as a system of equations and then solved for the key. The main idea is in obtaining a system of equations
which is solvable using reasonable amount of resources. The new approaches proposed in this work and experimental studies on the existing algebraic attacks on stream ciphers will be presented.
In the first attack on filter generator, the input-output relations are expressed in conjunctive normal form. The system of equations is then solved using modified Zakrevskij technique. This was one of the earliest algebraic attacks on the nonlinear filter generator.
In the second attack, we relaxed the constraint on algebraic attack that
the entire system description be known and the output sequence extension problem where the filter function is unknown is considered. We modeled the problem as a multivariate interpolation problem and solved it. An advantage of this approach is that it can be adapted to work for noisy output sequences where as the existing algebraic attacks expect the output sequence to be error free.
Adding memory to filter/combiner function increases the degree of system of equations and finding low degree equations in this case is computeintensive. The method for computing low degree relations for combiners
with memory was applied to the combiner in E0 stream cipher. We found that the relation given in literature [Armknecht and Krause] was incorrect.
We obtained the correct equation and verified its correctness.
A time-data size trade off attack for clock controlled filter generator was developed. The time complexity and the data requirements are in between the two approaches used in literature.
A recent development of algebraic attacks - the Cube attack was studied.
Cube attack on variants of Trivium were proposed by Dinur and Shamir where linear equations in key bits were obtained by combining equations for output bit for same key and a set of Initialization Vectors (IVs). We investigated the effectiveness of the cube attack on Trivium. We showed
that the linear equations obtained were not general and hence the attack succeeds only for some specific values of IVs. A reason for the equations not being general is given and a modification to the linear equation finding step suggested.

This works applies the idea of adjustment an engine-generator, so it is possible to connect an engine-generator, or other type of a generator, to the electricity. Consequently, the machine can transform the power supply without an outage. This work concerns the complex approach, provides the descriptions of particular parts, sensors and active components of a motor-generator and includes the explanation of their function. Further research is focused on designing and drawing a plan with a choice of a control unit for the whole system. Finally, the work deals with the complex implementation and testing the machine in real operation.

Performance estimation of wireless networks using traffic generation and monitoring on a mobile deviceTiemeni, Ghislaine Livie Ngangom January 2015 (has links)
In this study, a traffic generator software package namely MTGawn was developed to run packet generation and evaluation on a mobile device. The call generating software system is able to: simulate voice over Internet protocol calls as well as user datagram protocol and transmission control protocol between mobile phones over a wireless network and analyse network data similar to computer-based network monitoring tools such as Iperf and D-ITG but is self-contained on a mobile device. This entailed porting a ‘stripped down’ version of a packet generation and monitoring system with functionality as found in open source tools for a mobile platform. This mobile system is able to generate and monitor traffic over any network interface on a mobile device, and calculate the standard quality of service metrics. The tool was compared to a computer–based tool namely distributed Internet traffic generator (D-ITG) in the same environment and, in most cases, MTGawn reported comparable results to D-ITG. The important motivation for this software was to ease feasibility testing and monitoring in the field by using an affordable and rechargeable technology such as a mobile device. The system was tested in a testbed and can be used in rural areas where a mobile device is more suitable than a PC or laptop. The main challenge was to port and adapt an open source packet generator to an Android platform and to provide a suitable touchscreen interface for the tool. / >Magister Scientiae - MSc

Accuracy of Computer Simulations that use Common Pseudo-random Number GeneratorsDusitsin, Krid, Kosbar, Kurt 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 26-29, 1998 / Town & Country Resort Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / In computer simulations of communication systems, linear congruential generators and shift registers are typically used to model noise and data sources. These generators are often assumed to be close to ideal (i.e. delta correlated), and an insignificant source of error in the simulation results. The samples generated by these algorithms have non-ideal autocorrelation functions, which may cause a non-uniform distribution in the data or noise signals. This error may cause the simulation bit-error-rate (BER) to be artificially high or low. In this paper, the problem is described through the use of confidence intervals. Tests are performed on several pseudo-random generators to access which ones are acceptable for computer simulation.
