O pressuposto principal é que os resultados inovativos vinculam-se à quantidade e à qualidade dos insumos inovativos e às características das regiões que se configuram como um insumo. Neste sentido, destaca a importância das externalidades positivas geradas pela concentração espacial das instituições capazes de contribuir para os esforços de empresas inovadoras. Entre as externalidades mais importantes, a literatura destaca o papel dos transbordamentos de conhecimentos, uma vez que eles são capazes de proporcionar benefícios importantes que fomentam as inovações. Além disso, enfatiza-se o papel das estruturas produtivas locais, especializada e diversificada e a densidade das interações entre os agentes envolvidos no processo de inovação. Os resultados deste trabalho apontam para importância dos transbordamentos de conhecimento, das aglomerações urbanas, e da densidade das interações entre universidade e empresas no fomento a inovação das microrregiões paulistas / Abstract: This research aims to examine empirically, through the production function of knowledge, the relationship between the spatial distribution of innovative inputs and outcomes of innovation in the regions of the state of São Paulo. The main assumption is that the innovative results are linked to the quantity and quality of innovative inputs and characteristics of the regions that are configured as an input. In this regard, stresses the importance of positive externalities generated by the spatial concentration of institutions able to contribute to the efforts of innovative companies. Among the most important externalities, the literature highlights the role of knowledge spillovers, since they are able to provide important benefits that foster innovation. Furthermore, emphasize the role of local production structures, specialized and diverse, and the density of interactions between the agents involved in the innovation process. The results of this study point to the importance of knowledge spillovers, urban agglomerations, and the density of interactions between universities and companies in promoting innovation in the São Paulo microregions / Mestrado / Politica Cientifica e Tecnologica / Mestra em Política Científica e Tecnológica
