Determinar el efecto de un dentífrico a base de bicarbonato de sodio, fluoruro de sodio y extractos vegetales; y de otro a base de cloruro de cetilpiridinio, flúor, provitamina B5 y permethol en el control de gingivitis asociada a placa usando índices periodontales (IG, IP, IHO-S) en adolescentes de 10-15 años. La muestra fue 68 adolescentes entre 10 y 15 años del colegio “Santa Teresa de Couderc”. Se les aplicó el índice de higiene oral simplificado (IHO-S), el índice gingival (IG) y el de placa (IP). Se los dividió en 2 grupos, el grupo A recibió un dentífrico de bicarbonato de sodio, fluoruro de sodio y extractos vegetales (Parodontax®); y el B un dentífrico de cloruro de cetilpiridinio, flúor, provitamina B5 y permethol (VITIS® encías), Se les enseñó la técnica de Bass modificada y se les indicó no usar otro método de higiene oral. Se reevaluó luego de 28 días. / To determine the effect of a dentifrice based on sodium bicarbonate, sodium fluoride and plant extracts, and the other based on cetylpyridinium chloride, fluoride, provitamin B5 and permethol in the control of gingivitis associated with plaque using periodontal indexes (GI, PI, OHI-S) in adolescents aged 10-15 years. The sample was 68 adolescents between 10-15 years of school “Santa Teresa de Couderc”. They were applied the simplified oral hygiene index (OHI-S), gingival index (GI) and of plaque (PI). They were divided into two groups, group A received a toothpaste of sodium bicarbonate, sodium fluoride and plant extracts (Parodontax®), and the B a toothpaste of cetylpyridium chloride, fluoride, provitamin B5 and permethol (VITIS® encías). They were taught modified Bass technique and were instructed not to use another method of oral hygiene. It was reassessed after 28 days.
