Protection of women's rights in Africa through national human rights institutions (NHRIs) : a case study of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa

Mtshali, Linda A. January 2010 (has links)
Marginalized and vulnerable groups have always existed in societies. Such groups have always needed protectors of their rights. In democratic countries institutions have had to be established to ensure that the rights of these groups are protected. National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) are part of these institutions. NHRIs are important and vital as they 'serve as independent bodies for the protection and promotion of human rights‘. / Thesis (LLM (Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa)) -- University of Pretoria, 2010. / A dissertation submitted to the Faculty of Law University of Pretoria, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Masters of Law (LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa). Designs and codes from certain finite simple groups / George Ferdinand Randriafanomezantsoa-Rodehery

Randriafanomezantsoa-Rodehery, George Ferdinand January 2013 (has links)
In this dissertation, we study four methods for constructing codes and designs from finite groups. The first method was developed by Carmichael and Ernst in the nineteen thirty's. The second method is a generalization of the first one by D.R. Hughes in the nineteen sixty's. These first two methods use t-transitive groups to construct t-designs. The last methods arc two recent techniques developed by J .D. Key and J. Moori (2002). they use primitive finite groups to build l-designs. We will apply these methods to simple groups, and use the incidence matrix of the constructed designs to generate codes. / Thesis (Msc. in Mathematics) North-West University, Mafikeng Campus, 2013

Symmetry reductions, exact solutions and conservation laws of a variable coefficient (2+1)-dimensional zakharov-kuznetsov equation / Letlhogonolo Daddy Moleleki.

Moleleki, Letlhogonolo Daddy January 2011 (has links)
This research studies two nonlinear problems arising in mathematical physics. Firstly the Korteweg-de Vrics-Burgers equation is considered. Lie symmetry method is used to obtain t he exact solutions of Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation. Also conservation laws are obtained for this equation using the new conservation theorem. Secondly, we consider the generalized (2+ 1)-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznctsov (ZK) equation of time dependent variable coefficients from the Lie group-theoretic point of view. We classify the Lie point symmetry generators to obtain the optimal system of one-dimensional subalgebras of t he Lie symmetry algebras. These subalgebras arc then used to construct a number of symmetry reductions and exact group-invariant solutions of the ZK equation. We utilize the new conservation theorem to construct the conservation laws of t he ZK equation. / Thesis (M. Sci in Applied Mathematics) North-West University, Mafikeng Campus, 2011
