Nesta dissertação partimos da hipótese de que é possível estudar a história por meio da literatura a partir das representações da realidade colombiana que esta contém. A literatura é fruto de seu tempo histórico e é possível compreender o mesmo na própria literatura. Trataremos não só da Guerra dos Mil Dias em si, mas da realidade política e cultural colombiana ao longo do século XIX e das muitas guerras civis que nele ocorreram. Esta análise será feita principalmente por meio de duas personagens das obras previamente mencionadas: o Coronel Aureliano Buendía – Cien años de soledad – e o Coronel inominado – e El coronel no tiene quien le escriba. Ambos os personagens são veteranos da Guerra dos Mil Dias e pretendemos, ao nos debruçarmos sobre eles, fazer uma análise das representações da situação conflituosa que vivia a Colômbia no século XIX, a Guerra dos Mil Dias em si e da situação política que desta decorre. Também aqui nos interessa o legado político e econômico da guerra para a Colômbia do século XX. Este estudo se realizará sob a égide da metodologia qualitativa, que se encaminhará pelo viés da História Cultural. A análise das obras será feita levando em conta a interação das mesmas, uma vez que o universo de García Márquez é intensamente conectado e que a temática de ambas se justapõem. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This research proposes an analysis of the representations of the Thousand Days War (1899 - 1902) contained in two works of Gabriel García Márquez: Cien años de soledad e El coronel no tiene quien le escriba. In this thesis we start from the hypothesis that it is possible to study history through literature from the representations of the Colombian reality it contains. Literature is the result of its historical time and it is possible to understand the said time in literature itself. We will address not only the War of the Thousand Days, but the political and cultural reality of Colombia throughout the nineteenth century and the many civil wars that took place in it. This analysis will be done mainly through two characters of the works previously mentioned: Colonel Aureliano Buendía – Cien años de soledad – and the unnamed Colonel – El coronel no tiene quien le escriba. Both characters are veterans of the War of the Thousand Days and here we intend to analyze the representations of the conflictive situation that Colombians lived in the nineteenth century, the War of the Thousand Days itself and the political situation that arises from it. We also take great interest in the political and economic legacy of the war for Colombia in the twentieth century. This study will be held under the auspices of qualitative methodology and it will follow the ways of Cultural History. The analysis of works here mentioned will be done taking into account the interaction between them, as the universe of García Márquez is strongly connected and that the theme of both works overlap.
