Henri J.M. Nouwen (1932-1996), a renowned pastoral theologian, has written more than 40 books among which several are about pastoral care and the spirituality of pastoral care. It was interesting for me to notice the parallel between his life and the contents of his books. He has undergone a tremendous personal development and spiritual maturity. His books invite all the christians and pastors to grow in the spiritual life. The spirituality is the underlying principle of creative ministry. Nouwen moves away from the traditional approach and concepts and develops his own concept of spiritual growth and pastoral care. Rooted in tradition and trained as a pastoral psychologist Nouwen is very appealing to the modern generation. This dissertation takes the reader through the life and writings of Nouwen to come to his original and new understanding of the spirituality of the pastoral care. / Henri J.M. Nouwen (1932-1996), ein renommierter Pastoraltheologe, hat viele Bücher geschrieben, darunter einige wichtige über das Pastoral und die Spiritualität der Seelsorge. Der Inhalt seiner Bücher weist eine Paralellität zu seinem Lebenslauf auf. Er lässt seine Leser an seiner spirituellen Entwicklung teilhaben. Seine Bücher laden Christen und Seelsorger zum reifer werden ein. Für ihn ist eine solide christliche Spiritualität das Fundament der schöpferischen Seelsorge. Nouwen schätzt die christliche Tradition, setzt aber neue Akzente. Meine Arbeit bemüht sich den Leser zu begleiten durch das Leben von Nouwen und seine Bücher. Ein Einblick in seine originelle und für die modernen Menschen aktuelle Konzeption hilft dem Leser über sein eigenes Leben nachzudenken.
