É um tratado semiótico que permeia interfaces entre fé e razão, no qual Santo Agostinho utiliza, como argumento fundamental, a teoria platônica da reminiscência para fundamentar sua tese de uma pedagogia inatista. À tradução que empreendi, encontrei ressonâncias nas concepções teóricas dos lingüistas e teóricos da tradução Friedrich Schleiermacher e George Steiner, e nos filósofos Ortega y Gasset, Paul Ricoeur e Jean Ladrière. Estes têm em comum a visão do tradutor a constituir-se como um mediador entre dois mundos e, a tradução que não se limita a uma mera transposição de palavras em línguas diferentes, mas implica em uma comunicação balizada por signos lingüísticos vinculados a polissistemas culturais. O interrelacionar análise literária com questões culturais envolveu, em De Magistro, o estudo de um mundo muito singular, que torna imperativo em sua tradução recorrer a intertextualidade com a Sagrada Escritura e com outras obras do autor, inicialmente, a partir de uma tradução intralingual, para, posteriormente, processar a interlingual. The present research intends to offer a new focus on the translation of Santo Agostinho#s productions from the commented translation of his work De Magistro, an eminently hermeneutic work, typical of the exegetic discourses in pre-medioevo, characterized by symbolic-allegorical rhetoric of the Sacred Scripture. It is a semiotic treaty that permeates the interface between faith and reason, in which Santo Agostinho uses as a fundamental argument the theory of Plato#s reminiscence in order to fundament his thesis of an inborn pedagogy. To the translation engaged, I found resonances in theoretic conceptions of translation linguists and theorists, such as Friedrich Schleiermacher and George Steiner, and also in philosophers Ortega y Gasset, Paul Ricoeur and Jean Ladrière. They all have in common the translator#s view being a mediator between two worlds and the translation not limiting to a simple transposition of words in different languages, but implying a communication indicated by linguistic signs connected to cultural polisystems. Interrelating literary analysis and cultural issues, involved in De Magistro, the study of a very unique world, becoming imperative its translation, appealing to intertextuality with the Sacred Scripture and with other works by the author, starting from an intralingual translation to, subsequently, process to interlingual.
