An Empirical Relationship Based On High-pass Filtering To Estimate Usable Period Range For Nonlinear Sdof Response

Kale, Ozkan 01 December 2009 (has links) (PDF)
High-pass filtering that is one of the most efficient methods in removing long-period noise of accelerograms is investigated for its effect on nonlinear oscillator deformation response. Within this context, uncertainty in filter cut-off periods that would significantly modify the low-frequency content of accelerograms come into prominence for obtaining reliable long-period displacement response. Analog and digital ground-motion records from recently compiled Turkish strong-motion database are used and these records are high-pass filtered with a consistent methodology by randomly generated filter cut-offs that represent different filter cut-off decisions of the analysts. The uncertainty in inelastic spectral and residual displacements (SDIE and SDR, respectively) due to variations in filter cut-offs is examined to derive the usable period ranges where the effect of high-pass filtering is tolerable. Non-degrading, stiffness degrading and stiffness and strength degrading oscillator behavior are considered in these analyses. The level of nonlinear behavior in single degree of freedom (SDOF) response is described by varying the yield strength (R, normalized yield strength) and displacement ductility (&micro / ) levels. The usable period ranges that depend on magnitude, recording quality, level of inelasticity and level of degradation are determined for SDIE through robust probabilistic methodologies.

The stator flux is estimated by integrating the voltage model of the machine, applying Highpass Filters (HFP) for ideal integration of electromotive force against, leading to compensation of offsets in the measurements of voltage, current and its integral, so enable practical implementations of control strategies, failure prediction and energy efficiency. Simulated and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed strategy, evaluating the efficiency of the estimation of transient load and a wide range of machine operation / A proposta deste trabalho é o desenvolvimento de uma estratégia para determinação do conjugado eletromagnético de Motores de Indução Trifásicos (MIT) a partir da estimação do fluxo estatórico, que apresenta maior robustez frente a variações paramétricas.

A Study of Digital RF Phase Shifters Fabricated With Additive Manufacturing

Vega, Yaniel 30 October 2015 (has links)
Digital RF phase shifters fabricated using additive manufacturing processes are presented and studied. The purpose is to explain the performance differences between phase shifters fabricated using additive manufacturing and those fabricated with conventional subtractive techniques. All phase shifters are designed to operate at a center frequency of 2.45 GHz with a 100 MHz bandwidth. The 1-bit 45° switched line phase shifters have an average insertion loss of 1.3 dB and a 220 mm2 footprint, while the 1-bit 180° high-pass low-pass phase shifters have an insertion loss 1.56 dB and a 180 mm2 footprint. The 4-bit high-pass low-pass, switched line hybrid phase shifters on the other hand show an average state insertion loss of 5.4 dB and have a 660 mm2 foot print. By carefully analyzing the performance of the various phase shifter designs it is shown that the limiting factors of additive manufacturing technology are the low conductivity of CB028 silver ink in comparison to copper, and the inability to print dielectrics with low surface roughness. Finally, parallel plate capacitors and a spiral inductor designed to be fabricated using additive manufacturing techniques are studied. This is done in order to better understand the advantages and disadvantages of such a design. By analyzing the component’s simulated performance it is shown that 3D printed capacitors and inductors are feasible as long as the capacitance or inductance values needed are low. Large value 3D printed components are impractical for RF applications due to their large size.

Suchánek, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to study the possibilities of the electronic frequency ?lter com- posed of active elements operating in current mode. The main opportunities lie in the change control parameters, most are marginal or quality factor frequency. As the active elements are considered especially CC (Current Convejor), controllable current ampli?er DACA (Digitally Adjustable Current Ampli?er) or combination with the current tracker MO-CF (Multiple Output Current Follower). Another part will focus on the management of the above parameters using digital potentiometers and choosing the appropriate ?lter structure. The ?nal task was to digital control parameters using a PC and measuring its properties.

Design of Harmonic Filters for Renewable Energy Applications

Kumar, Bhunesh January 2011 (has links)
Harmonics are created by non-linear devices connected to the power system. Power system harmonics are multiples of the fundamental power system frequency and these harmonic frequencies can create distorted voltages and currents. Distortion of voltages and currents can affect the power system adversely causing power quality problems. Therefore, estimation of harmonics is of high importance for efficiency of the power system network. The problem of harmonic loss evaluation is of growing importance for renewable power system industry by impacting the operating costs and the useful life of the system components. Non-linear devices such as power electronics converters can inject harmonics alternating currents (AC) in the electrical power system. The number of sensitive loads that require ideal sinusoidal supply voltage for their proper operation has been increasing. To maintain the quality limits proposed by standards to protect the sensitive loads, it is necessary to include some form of filtering device to the power system. Harmonics also increases overall reactive power demanded by equivalent load. Filters have been devised to achieve an optimal control strategy for harmonic alleviation problems. To achieve an acceptable distortion, increase the power quality and to reduce the harmonics hence several three phase filter banks are used and connected in parallel. In this thesis, high order harmonics cases have been suppressed by employing variants of Butterworth, Chebyshev and Cauer filters. MATLAB/SIMULINK wind farm model was used to generate and analyze the different harmonics magnitude and frequency. High voltage direct current (HVDC) lines for an electrical grid that is more than50km far away wind farm generation plant was investigated for harmonics. These HVDC lines are also used in offshore wind farm plant. Investigated three-phase harmonics filters are shunt elements that are used in power systems for decreasing voltage distortion and for correcting the power factor. Renewable energy sources are not the stable source of energy generation like wind, solar and tidal e.t.c. Though they are secondary sources of generation and hard to connect with electrical grid. In near future the technique is to use the wave digital filter (WDF) or circulator-tree wave digital filter (CTWDF) for the renewable energy application can be employed to mitigate the harmonics. These WDF and CTWDF can b eused in HVDC lines and smart grid applications. A preliminary analysis is conducted for such a study.

Estudo comparativo de técnicas de estimativa do fluxo estatórico de MIT

Silveira, Augusto Wohlgemuth Fleury Veloso da 02 March 2007 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work shows and compares three different flux estimator algorithms developed for use in high-performance sensorless ac motor drives. The first algorithm uses a low pass filter with a very low cut off frequency to integrate the back electromotive force (emf). The second one uses a high pass filter to remove the offset present in the signal before it s integration. The third algorithm uses current and voltage model to estimate the flux of induction motor. These algorithms can be used to accurately measure the motor flux including magnitude and phase angle over a wide speed range. The performance of the algorithms is investigated, compared, and verified using simulation and experimental tests.
