Historiografie čínské astronomie za předválečné a válečné Čínské republiky (1911-1949) a za rané Čínské lidové republiky (1949-1966): politické, sociální a nacionalistické vlivy / Historiography of Chinese Astronomy in the Pre-war and War-time Chinese Republic (1911-1949) and in the Early People's Republic of China (1949-1966): Political, Social and Nationalist Influences

Laifr, Václav January 2019 (has links)
The present PhD thesis studies political, social and nationalist influences on the historiography of traditional Chinese astronomy written in two different periods, in the pre- war and war-time Chinese Republic (1911-1949) and in the early People's Republic of China (1949-1966). After closer examination of the works on history of Chinese astronomy written in these two periods it is apparent that in many of them Chinese historical astronomical achievements are amplified. It is a representation of encouragement of the nation's self- confidence. This phenomenon is a result of certain political and social influences that had certain development and will be researched by this thesis. For the first period, the works of Zhu Wenxin 朱文鑫 (1883-1939), the most prolific pre-war historian of Chinese astronomy, as well as the works of his several pre-war and war-time fellow astronomers are studied. For the second period, mainly the works of Xi Zezong 席泽宗 (1927-2008), the most significant post-war historian of Chinese astronomy, are focused. For the first period, the questions that we aim at are the primary motivation of the establishment of the modern historiography of Chinese astronomy in 1920s after the establishment of Chinese Astronomical Society and the relation of the research principles and topics...

Václav Chaloupecký. Československý historik a archivář (1882-1951) / Václav Chaloupecký Czechoslovak historian and archivist (1882-1951)

Ducháček, Milan January 2012 (has links)
The aim of the presented PhD thesis is to deal with the historiographical legacy of Czech historian Václav Chaloupecký (1882-1951), the pupil of Josef Pekař and Jaroslav Goll. During the First Czechoslovak republic Chaloupecký kept the professorship of Czechoslovak history at the newly established Comenius University in Bratislava. His historiographical work has its basis in mediaevistic studies yet it also deals with the questions of contemporary history. The roots of his creativity, however, lie in poetry. Chaloupecký's work is often marked as "czechoslovakist" and positivist and due to this fact usually viewed as methodologically and ideologically obsolete. The aim of this thesis is to rethink Chaloupecký's historiographical legacy from the non-nationalistic and ideologically open minded point of view. The core of this critical approach is to show the stereotypes bound with Chaloupecký's name and last but not least to reveal the specific ideological background of Chaloupecký's work, its roots based in his individual experience with the Czech and Slovak cultural horizon and mainly in the marriage with the Slovak modernist poet Ľudmila Groeblová. The result should show a picture of life and work of a historian which was interrupted due to three breaks - The Great War, Second World War and the...

Dilema ukrajinského národního projektu: vytváření nových národních mýtů / The Dilemma of the Ukrainian Nation-building: the Creation of New National Myths

Shenshyn, Oleg January 2014 (has links)
Ukrainian state lacks an effective historical memory policy. For this reason, the Ukrainian nation- building project lacks ideological capabilities to consolidate Ukrainian society. The dilemma regarding the national myths is the main challenge of the Ukrainian nation-building project. The dilemma emerged in choosing between the myth of the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the myth of the Great Patriotic War. Both myths are struggling for an important place in the pantheon of Ukrainian history, but fisrt of all for a recognition of Ukrainian society. This resulted in the creation of conflicting historical identities. Ukrainian elite have long time speculated on the differences in the historical identity, which largely contributed to social fragmentation. This thesis describes how national myths interact with nation-building project and also analyzes the content of the most crucial interpretations of the historical myths.

Fenomén akademické peregrinace jako téma moderní středoevropské historiografie: příklad českých a moravských studentů na vybraných kalvínských vzdělávacích institucích (1575-1620) / The "peregrinatio academica" Phenomenon as a topic of modern Middle-European Historiography: An Example of Czech and Moravian Students at Selected Calvinist Education Institutions (1575-1620)

Píš, Ondřej January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to present the phenomenon of academic peregrination from several points of view. It is first outlined as a specific topic of Czech historiography, which has been processed since the second half of the 19th century. Emphasis is placed on current research in a Central European perspective. Database projects that represent the current trend in the study of academic peregrination are presented in more details in the thesis. A separate part consists of a case study dealing with Czech and Moravian students at selected reformed institutes in the period 1575-1620. Detailed research was carried out on five institutes in present-day Germany and Switzerland - the universities of Basel, Heidelberg and Marburg, and the academies in Herborn and Geneva. The edited matrices of these institutions have become the main source of this part of the presented work. The student lists used so far proved to be insufficient and gap-free for the analysis. The work includes the updated and formally unified lists of Czech and Moravian students at selected schools in the selected period. The social origin of students in observed was also analyzed. Attention was also paid to trends in education at reformed schools and differences in Czech and Moravian academic peregrination. Key words Academic...

Proměny interpretace role komunistického odboje v Pražském povstání / Changing interpretation of the role of the communist resistence at the Prague uprising

Zelinka, Martin January 2021 (has links)
The Prague uprising signified the end of the Second World War in Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. As the Soviet and American armies progressed through the country towards Prague and the war was apparently soon to come to an end, Czechoslovaks themselves wanted to take part in the resistance against the Nazi oppression. The uprising was also a turning point for the succesful liberation of Prague. After the Czechoslovak communist party seized power in February 1948, the way the public perceived the uprising had to be changed to fit the party's interpretation, purposely overlooking the contribution of any non-communist resistence. This ideologically suitable interpretation had to be accepted even by the main leader of the uprising. The aforementioned interpretation can still be seen in historiographic books, even those published after the Velvet Revolution. Interpretation of the same event with the targeted use of words and phrases allows for different sounds and thus influences the reader. Targeted use of historical events can achieve the long-term prevalence of rumors, the refutation of which is a necessity and the work of historians. On the example of key moments of the uprising, such as its spontaneous beginning, the involvement of The Russian Liberation Army or the surrender of German troops...

Čeští Lucemburkové ve francouzské soudobé historiografii / Czech Luxembourges in french contemporary historiography

Jedináková, Petra January 2013 (has links)
Petra JEDINÁKOVÁ, CZECH LUXEMBOURGES IN FRENCH CONTEMPORARY HISTORIOGRAPHY, Prague, Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University in Prague 2012. The aim of this thesis is to consider the relationship of Czech Luxembourg dynasty towards the French dynasty and the impact of their policies in western Europe. The work also focuses on different ways of perception of the Luxembourgs in both Czech and French environment and reasons for such observations. The Luxembourg dynasty, being originally an earl family of the French from Luxembourg, always had a strong relation towards France and its ruling dynasty which was based on mutual respect, friendship, similar opinions and also family bonds, the successors were educated at the French court. The two countries supported each other in fight andalso by mutual contact, visits and in terms of diplomacy. We have testimonies regarding these events thanks to medieval sources such as chronicles, annals, documents, correspondence and texts of authors from the French environment, who personally met Czech kings from the House of Luxembourg and therefore left us important insights into the situation of that time. John of Luxembourg has been perceived in as a model of knightly virtues and a brave fighter always loyal to the French king. In Bohemia, he was for centuries...

Historik W. W. Tomek a jeho význam v českém dějepisectví. / The historian W. W. Tomek and his importance in Czech historiography.

Pazderský, Roman January 2019 (has links)
Roman PAZDERSKÝ, The Historian W. W. Tomek and His Importance in the Czech Historiography, dissertation thesis, FF UK, Prague 2019 This dissertation thesis is an attempt to thoroughly evaluate the significance of the Czech historian Wácslaw Wladiwoj Tomek (1818-1905) for Czech historiography. The basic methodological assumption of the work is the belief that the meaning of Tomek's intellectual contribution can be adequately understood only on the basis of the broader contexts of his life and work, which are perceived in his integral interconnection with the corresponding social, political and cultural contexts of the history of the Czech society in the 19th century. The introductory chapters provide a detailed overview of the sources and literature on the subject, including the discussion of W. W. Tomek's present reflections in a wider rather than narrow historiographical space. The essential part of the introduction is the subchapter Czech Historiography as a Research Topic, aiming to find a suitable conceptualization key for competent reflections on the changes of the Czech historiography of the 19th century on the background of relevant social and historical contexts. The following chapter, titled "Long Life in a Short Impression," presents a clear outline of Tomek 's life, whose aim is not to...
