Výživa sportovních koní zaměřených na soutěže všestrannosti / Nutrition of sport horses focused for the eventing competition

SEDLÁKOVÁ, Kristýna January 2013 (has links)
This thesis assesses a systems of the feeding and nutrition of sporting horses which are specialized for the eventing. It deals with a requirement of the energy, individual nutrients, minerals and vitamins. Also it deals with a technology of the feeding horses at each period of the training. The own work is interested in classification of the intake of the energy and amount of the nutrients in the feeding rations at the season of the training, season of the races and at time of the rest in the winter. The feeding rations are assessed in a group of nine horses of the various breeds, age, weight and performance. The discovered values has been compared with the standard nutrient requirements for horses. The monitored values have been: energy, digestible crude protein, various macro and micronutrients, vitamin A and vitamin E. It has followed from the results that the feeding of the horses is individual thing. Intake of the energy and nutrients was tolerated in all cases

Životní projevy hřebců a klisen / Life symptoms of stallions and mares

KOREŠOVÁ, Michaela January 2010 (has links)
The farm, where I have watched ethological behaviour, is next to CHKO Blanský les, near the small town Lhenice. The farm is engaged in breeding of horses. The basic herd is created with warm-blooded mares of Netolice´s breeding. The aim of ethological watching was to recognize basic symptoms of behaviour of horses in their natural conditions during pasture season. These symptoms were watched in the herd of 20 mares (barren, advanced stage of pregnancy and mares with foals) and in the one of 9 stallions and 2 geldings. Everything was conducted during four of 24-hours cycles during pasture season 2008 inside each of the herds. It was recognized, that horses most of their time were accepting their fodder. The time of feeding depended on quality of the pasture fodder and at the temperature of the air. Mares spent the longest time with feeding. It was 63.84 % of the day. The stallions spent with feeding 58.90 % of the day. At the end of their pasture season in September, but it is quite normal, because the quality of pasture is during the second part of pasture season much worse. The rest, as laying and standing depended on the time, that was needed for satisfying with pasture. The longest time for have a rest was watched during the month of Juni {--} 42.50 % of the day and 46.47 % of the day during August, when the parture was the richest and temperature the highest. Moving activity was much better inside the stallion´s herd. The conflict behaviour was the same inside the both of herds and aggressive behaviour was watched during the social fighting for relationships inside both of herds.

Die betekenis van perde in die bewoning van die Lesotho-Hoogland

Ficq, Constant Joseph 07 October 2015 (has links)
M.A. (Anthropology) / Though the association of the "BaSotho" with the horse is a commonplace one, thus far very few anthropological studies of the subject have been undertaken. The "BaSotho" to horse relation has been clouded by the idealised Western perception of the horse as symbol of power, vitality and freedom. What further clouds the issue is the simplistic image people have of the "BaSotho" as "traditional horsemen". For an objective understanding of the contemporary "BaSotho"/horse relationship it is necessary to focus on both the general Western perception of the horse and on the reasons for this outlook, as well as on the historical background to the use of the horse in Lesotho ...

Genetic parameters and breeding values for the South African warmblood horse population

Boers, Nicola Grillion 09 November 2005 (has links)
1. The aim of this study was to determine the genetic parameters and breeding values for the South African Warmblood horse population. Information collected by the Society from 1989 to 1998 was provided for 2143 horses. This information included bloodline, breeder, owner, gender, birth date, pedigree, and scores from the inspection test. 2. Non-genetic factors that had a significant effect were determined for all inspection test traits. Year of inspection was significant for most traits; gender, breeder, owner, category of age at inspection, year of birth, month of birth, month of inspection and the combined effects of bloodline and register were all significant for various traits. 3. The parameters calculated were the environmental and genetic variance, the environmental and genetic correlations and the heritability. The environmental variance ranged from 0.212 to 1.038, and the genetic variance ranged from 0.014 to 0.137. Environmental correlations ranged from 0.012 to 0.924, and genetic correlations ranged from -0.331 to 0.997. Heritability estimates ranged from 0.009 to 0.374. 4. Best linear unbiased estimates were calculated for the independent variables in the traits for which they were significant. Best linear unbiased predictions were calculated for all animals in the population. Genetic trends were graphically presented for the total scores of the inspection test. Positive genetic trend was indicated. / Dissertation (MSc (Agric) Animal Science)--University of Pretoria, 2001. / Animal and Wildlife Sciences / unrestricted
