Investigation of energy retrofits of a multi-family building by using IDA Simulation Software

Ahmed, Basem January 2014 (has links)
Energy simulation in building sector was an important issue which can eliminate energy use and improve energy efficiency. The building, which is located at Ringvägen 18 in Ljusdal community in Sweden, was chosen to be the main mission of this research and it was one of eleven objects which were involved in EKG project. First step was to create the model and simulate it to reach heating value of 117 MWh which was reached by EKG project. After getting validation value, many renovations were implemented and the heating value was reduced by 58.7% and the heating demand by 55.2%. Improving of energy use through prefabrication gave reduction of heating value of 70.4% and heating demand of 65.8% The LCC part was important issue because it gave clear vision and judgment about the economic and investment issue. The acceptability of the investment decision was decided by 198 answers which were responsible to judge if the investments were good or not. There were 22 types of different renovation and every type included 9 cases which depended on interesting rate and energy price factors. The result was 198 answers which were divided to 100 answers as “YES” for good investment and 98 answers as “NO” for good investment.

Energieffektivisering i Stigbygeln : En förstudie

Häggkvist, Ylva January 2016 (has links)
Diös fastigheter is Northern Sweden's largest private real estate company. The bulk of the company's holdings constists of centrally located retail, industrial and office buildings, 23 of which are located in Umeå. Diös fastigheter works continuosly to decrease energy consumption in their building stock. One part of this work is to pursue the Greenbuildning environmental certification for buildings. This paper examines a building named Stigbygeln 2, situated on Dragonfältet i Umeå, currently rented by the logistics company PostNord. The energy consumption last year was approximately 290 kWh per square meter. This paper examines the reasons for the high energy consumption and which measures to increase energy-efficiency yield the largest energy-savings at the lowest cost.   At the present time Stigbygeln 2 is connected to the municipal district heating network, and distric heating is utilized as heating source to warm the inlet air of the ventilation system, which in turn warms a significant portion of the facilities found in the building. Heating of supply air constitutes 85% of the total heat load, and there is no system for heat recovery.   Stigbygeln has been constructed in the simulation tool IDA ICE in accordance with known conditions, and different measures to increase efficiency have been investigated, individually as well as combined. Through LCC analysis, savings resulting from decreased energy consumption have been weighed against the initial investment cost and the operational cost.   The result shows that a switch to FXT ventilation would yield the largest energy savings, 57%, and that this is also the financially most advantageous route. Conversion to geothermal heating reduces energy consumption by 37%, but is not economically viable. A swith to LED lighting is a measure that yields a good return on the investment cost and lowers energy consumption by 7%. The savings are greatest when a change of ventilation system is combined with a change to LED lighting.

Structural and functional characterization of ferritin (iron-binding proteins) isolated from manitoba legume seeds

Gesinde, Folashade 21 September 2016 (has links)
Fourteen Manitoba legume seeds and a pea protein isolate were evaluated for ferritin production. Optimized ferritin concentrate yields from 5 selected isolates ranged from 19.07% (Chick Peas) to 9.69% (Moon Dal Washed). Iron concentrations were between 0.45g (Green Lentils Whole) and 0.30g (Chick Pea)/100g. SDS-PAGE revealed presence of the major ferritin polypeptides in the concentrates. The levels of iron in ferritin appear to be directly related to the amount of negatively charged amino acids. Intrinsic fluorescence and circular dichroic spectra showed that the ferritin concentrates had denatured protein conformations at pH 2 and 7, which is critical to their digestibility and bioavailability. Gel-permeation chromatography revealed differences in elution volumes between pre- and post-digestion ferritin concentrates, and kinetics studies confirmed susceptibility to proteolysis and a high potential for iron release. Results demonstrated the feasibility of phytoferritin production from Manitoba pulses, which could serve as a better iron supplement than inorganic iron during IDA treatment. / October 2016

Energikartläggning och energieffektivisering av Trinnliden 7:5 : Simulering av energibesparande åtgärder i "IDA Indoor Climate and Energy"

Lindmark, Jonas January 2015 (has links)
On behalf of GATE Intelligent Support AB an energy audit has been conducted in the spring of 2015. The project was to develop an energy audit at an industrial premise in Vännäs municipality. Vännäs Fastigheter AB is the owner of this venue and has recently received complaints from tenants about an cold indoor climate in the property. Furthermore, it emerged that the property's future energy supply of heating is uncertain. Therefore a separate project to find an alternative heating sources solution has been initialized. This report will place great emphasis on changes, which lead to an improved indoor climate as to energy savings. To achieve this plan and to make it more understandable the simulation program IDA ICE has been used throughout the whole paper. Additionally, economic calculations for an LCC-analysis including repayment time has been done to compare the measures easier. Results from this project have demonstrated that this industrial premise can when all energy saving measures are carried out, reduce their energy consumption from 299 MWh per year to 129 MWh per year. This means a total decrease of 56.9%. The inspection of the property reveals shortcomings in the existing heating system. The current radiator system was configured wrong which resulted in a significant reduction of the heat outcome. This was not just done by changing settings of the radiator system but as well by adjusting the ventilationsystem to the business conditions of the property.

Undersökning av energieffektivisering av klimatskal på ett bostadshus

Nilsson, Simon January 2016 (has links)

Rewriting Marpole: The Path to Cultural Complexity in the Gulf of Georgia.

Clark, Terence Norman 06 August 2010 (has links)
This dissertation examines prehistoric culture change in the Gulf of Georgia region of the Northwest Coast of North America during the Locarno Beach (3500 – 1100 BP) and Marpole (2000 – 1100 BP) periods. The Marpole culture has traditionally been seen to possess all the traits associated with complex hunter-gatherers on the Northwest Coast (hereditary inequality, multi-family housing, storage-based economies, resource ownership, wealth accumulation, etc.) while the Locarno Beach culture has not. This research examined artifact and faunal assemblages as well as data for art and mortuary architecture from a total of 164 Gulf of Georgia archaeological site components. Geographic location and ethnographic language distribution were also compared to the archaeological data. Analysis was undertaken using Integrative Distance Analysis (IDA), a new statistical methodology developed in the course of this research. Results indicated that Marpole culture was not a regional phenomenon but rather was much more spatially and temporally discrete than previously known. Artifactual assemblages identified as Marpole were restricted to the areas of the Fraser River, northern Gulf Islands and portions of Vancouver Island, an area contiguous with both Mitchell’s (1971b) “Fraser River Fishermen” economic sub-area and the ethnographic territory of the Downriver and Island Halkomelem peoples. In contrast, the geographic area of Mitchell’s (1971b) “Straits Reef-net Fishermen”, the ethnographic territory of the Straits Salish, showed no sign of Marpole culture but rather a presence of Late Locarno Beach culture. The pattern found in artifacts was replicated in the distribution of art and mortuary architecture variation suggesting the cultural differences between Marpole and Late Locarno Beach cultures was real and not a statistical anomaly. The matching distribution of prehistoric cultural variability and the ethnographic pattern of language groups indicate a long standing and stable cultural dynamic within the Gulf of Georgia.
