Peak-to-Peak Output Current Ripple Analysis in Multiphase and Multilevel Inverters

Loncarski, Jelena <1983> 10 March 2014 (has links)
Analysis of the peak-to-peak output current ripple amplitude for multiphase and multilevel inverters is presented in this PhD thesis. The current ripple is calculated on the basis of the alternating voltage component, and peak-to-peak value is defined by the current slopes and application times of the voltage levels in a switching period. Detailed analytical expressions of peak-to-peak current ripple distribution over a fundamental period are given as function of the modulation index. For all the cases, reference is made to centered and symmetrical switching patterns, generated either by carrier-based or space vector PWM. Starting from the definition and the analysis of the output current ripple in three-phase two-level inverters, the theoretical developments have been extended to the case of multiphase inverters, with emphasis on the five- and seven-phase inverters. The instantaneous current ripple is introduced for a generic balanced multiphase loads consisting of series RL impedance and ac back emf (RLE). Simplified and effective expressions to account for the maximum of the output current ripple have been defined. The peak-to-peak current ripple diagrams are presented and discussed. The analysis of the output current ripple has been extended also to multilevel inverters, specifically three-phase three-level inverters. Also in this case, the current ripple analysis is carried out for a balanced three-phase system consisting of series RL impedance and ac back emf (RLE), representing both motor loads and grid-connected applications. The peak-to-peak current ripple diagrams are presented and discussed. In addition, simulation and experimental results are carried out to prove the validity of the analytical developments in all the cases. The cases with different phase numbers and with different number of levels are compared among them, and some useful conclusions have been pointed out. Furthermore, some application examples are given.

This study proposes to comprehend how the reading metaphors enunciated by the literary criticism read the literary texts and the readers, which subjects they constitute and which historicities they have. The research presents an analysis of the metaphor “performance” enunciated in the discursiveness of the criticism “Augusto de Campos” from Ricardo Domenck published in the electronic magazine Modo de Usar & Co. on January 14th, 2009. Our study aims to analize the reading metaphor “performance”, investigate the conditions of its appearance, comprehend the historicity that supports it and comprehend the discursiveness of the criticism brought into discussion by this reading metaphor. Through Michel Pêcheux’s studies (2009), we comprehend the metaphor as a socio-historic process which serves as a foundation for the presentation of objects to subjects. We read the metaphor “performance” as an image of the reading and, besides, as a socio-historic form that constitutes senses about what “reading” means. From Pêcheux (2009-2010a), we understand the metaphor is constituted by a displacement of sense, through the metaphoric effect between a discursive formation and another. By the appearance conditions of this metaphor in its relation to the socio-historic and the “already said”, and in its relation to the discursive memory we aim to comprehend what “reading with performance” is.

The depressed industrial society : occupational movement, out- migration and residential mobility in the industrial-urbanization of Middletown, 1880-1925 / Middletown, 1880-1925.

Ray, Scott January 1981 (has links)
This research focused on the gap in data and theory on occupational mobility between historians researching the nineteenth century and sociologists researching the twentieth century. City directory listings on Muncie, Indiana provided the source data for a re-assessment of the blocked-mobility thesis asserted by Robert S. and Helen M. Lynd in the Middletown (1928) study of Muncie. The Middletown Index of Association was developed to analyze rates and trends in intra-generational occupational mobility. The results showed that the rate of upward mobility varied on the basis of the rate of industrialization, and both phenomena declined in the period under study. Thus, while upward mobility was decreasing, as reported by the Lynds, that decrease occurred with the deceleration rather than the advent of industrialization.Out-migration significantly increased through time contributing to a decelerating rate of urbanization, but low-status laborers continued to migrate out of the labor force at a significantly greater rate than skilled and white-collar workers. The "floating prolitariat" continued as a phenomenon in Muncie into the twenties. As a city declining in regional dominance, Muncie served as a "stage" in the movement of rural populations into increasingly larger cities. The association of high status to persistence in the labor force was matched with significantly greater residential persistence by skilled and non-manual workers. Social control was found to be more plausible than affluence as an explanation of the strong individualistic faith of the Muncie working class.

Perceptions of Huntington College graduates regarding intercollegiate participation

Zezula, Patricia Ann January 1981 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate and report the relationship of intercollegiate sport participation to personal and professional benefits as perceived by selected graduates of Huntington College. The population for the study consisted of all four year graduates from 1972 through 1979 who received at least one varsity award. The population was divided by sex and academic college major. Thirteen tables were constructed to report data pertaining to:1. aesthetic values2. social skills and relationships with others 3. funding of programs and program encouragement 4. professional benefits 5. effect upon personal conduct and development 6. sports participation. The Galloway Inventory was adapted and used as a questionnaire. The data were obtained from one hundred-sixty questionnaires or a 78 percent rate of return. Some of the findings of the study were:1. Intercollegiate sport participation is considered more important than informal competition.2. More physical education majors are active in team sports activities than the non physical education majors.3. One hundred percent of the male and female physical education majors disagreed expenditure of funds for a sports program is unnecessary and wasteful.4. More men, majors and non majors, participate regularly in individual sports than do female majors or non majors.Based on the data some of the conclusions were:1. Male and female physical education majors believe intercollegiate sport participation contributes to professional development.2. Male and female non physical education major athletes do not agree intercollegiate sport participation contributes to providing skills necessary for vocational association.3. Male and female physical education majors believe intercollegiate sport participation contributes to personal development.4. Male and female non physical education athletes believe intercollegiate sport participation contributes to personal development. The following recommendations are based on the findings of the study:1. A study should be conducted to determine the opinion of athletes participating in individual sports versus team sports.2. A study should be conducted to determine if differences of opinion exist among athletes receiving a different number of awards.3. A study should be undertaken to determine the perceptions of non athletes toward intercollegiate sport participation.
