L’essai suivant brosse un portrait général du rapport à l’espace domestique des personnages de fiction dans les romans Les maisons et Faire les sucres de Fanny Britt. Certains concepts issus de la géographie sociale tels que l’identité spatiale, la pratique et la représentation du lieu, permettent d’étudier l’habiter des personnages. L’analyse montre que les désirs individuels modulent les pratiques et représentations de l’espace habité. Par ailleurs, il ressort de cette étude que le deuil occupe une place prépondérante dans la représentation du chez-soi. J’ai tenté d’exploiter les relations possibles entre ces deux objets dans le cadre de ma démarche créatrice. La narratrice est progressivement amenée à faire le deuil de l’espace habité. / The following essay provides a general portrait of the relationship to domestic space of fictional characters in Fanny Britt’s novels “Les maisons” and “Faire les sucres”. Certain concepts from social geography such as the identity with place, the practices and representations of place have provided very useful keys for understanding the characters’ inhabiting of space. The analysis shows that individual desires modulate the practices and representations of inhabited space. Moreover, it emerges from this study that mourning occupies a preponderant place in the representation of home. I have attempted to explore the possible relations between these two objects within the framework of my creative approach. The narrator is gradually led to mourn the loss of the inhabited space.
