This dissertation aims to analyze the intellectuals’ participation linked to these periodicals in the current discussions at that time and in the construction of a representation which can contribute to social inclusion of black people in the post-abolition era. This work also aims to understand these people’s interaction with the political-social fabric formed during the late XIX and early XX, apart from analyzing the forms of approach and intervention related to readers elaborated by editors and collaborator of the newspapers
