Grammatikundervisning eller inte? : En studie i gymnasieelevers processning av grammatikövningar.

Hrvojevic, Helena January 2007 (has links)

Processing Instruction and Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling: A Study of Input in the Second Language Classroom

Foster, Sarah Jenne 05 1900 (has links)
This paper reports a study of VanPatten's processing instruction (PI) and Ray's TPRS. High school students in a beginning Spanish course were divided into three groups (PI, TPRS, and control) and instructed in forms using the Spanish verb gustar. Treatment included sentence-level and discourse-level input, and tests included interpretation and production measures in a pretest, an immediate posttest, and a delayed posttest given two and a half months following treatment. The PI group made the greatest gains in production measures and in a grammaticality judgment test, and the TPRS group made the greatest gains in written fluency. The PI group's statistical gains in production measures held through the delayed posttest.

A Study of Input-Output Adjustments

Briggs, Charles W. 01 May 1967 (has links)
The effects of using the United States input-output table to explain Israel's economic structure was studied, by comparing price data generated on the basis of the U. S. tables and prices observed in the two countries. A substantial difference between prices generated and observed led to the conclusion that the technological structure of the United States cannot be used to approximate Israel's structure. Various adjustments were then applied to the United States coefficient matrix to determine if it could be transformed into a new technological structure which would more closely approximate Israel's economy. Significant improvements were noted by three of the adjustments while one showed no noticeable difference from the results obtained using the unadjusted U.S. matrix. One of the adjustments was found to transform the U.S. coefficient matrix into a new matrix which when multiplied by the observed final demand vector of Israel would predict accurately, output levels and effects of changes in the Israel economy.

The Intelligent Combination of Input Shaping and PID Feedback Control

Huey, John Rogers 10 July 2006 (has links)
Input shaping and Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) feedback control are simple, easy-to-implement and generally low cost control strategies. Considering this, it is remarkable that they are also very effective control techniques. In fact, a majority of the world's feedback controllers utilize PID (or the subset PD) control. In addition, input shaping has seen significant use on real-world machines such as cranes, micro-mills, coordinate measuring machines, computer disc drive manufacturing machines, spacecraft, etc. However, despite similarities in effectiveness and ease of implementation, input shaping and PID feedback control are fundamentally different strategies. Input shaping is an anticipatory control scheme capable of enabling quick, low-vibration motions. PID feedback control is reactive in nature, and it is primarily required to deal with problems such as modeling errors, disturbances and nonlinearities. Of course, PID control is also used to reduce vibrations (as in the case of input shaping). But, because it is a reactive controller, it is slower than input shaping at eliminating motion-induced vibration. Given their effectiveness and practicality, as well as the fact that they address important and complimentary control issues, it would be advantageous to combine these two control strategies. The result would still be practical and effective, yet would now address a range of system phenomenon beyond that which is capable by either of the individual control techniques. However, there is a definite gap in the state-of-the-art technology for combining these techniques. For example, little research has addressed the intelligent combination of traditional, outside-the-loop input shaping and PID feedback control. In addition, only a few researchers have attempted to place input shaping filters within feedback loops. This research studies the intelligent combination of input shaping and PID feedback control by developing a concurrent design procedure for outside-the-loop input shaping/PID feedback combinations and by analyzing the effect of placing input shaping filters within feedback loops.

Seasonal and interannual differences in surface chlorophyll stocks and integrated water column chlorophyll stocks in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico

Fletcher, William Wallerich 01 November 2005 (has links)
During the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico Chemical and Hydrography study (NEGOM-COH), nine oceanographic cruises were fielded during the spring, summer and fall seasons from November 1997 to August 2000. Surface chlorophyll-? fluorescence, salinity, and temperature data were logged once a minute from the R/V Gyre and subsurface chlorophyll-? fluorescence, salinity, temperature, and nutrients were profiled when the ship stopped to make stations. Each cruise occupied 94-98 stations, partitioned among 11 cross-margin transects of water depths between 10 m to 1000 m. Overall chlorophyll-? abundance within the study area is forced by the amount of freshwater discharge. Seasonal and interannual differences are largely determined by the monthly mean streamflow for the major rivers within the NEGOM area, particularly the Mississippi River. However, an important forcing function for transport of river water to the outer continental shelf and slope is the periodic presence of anticyclonic slope eddies. Especially when these slope eddies were centered south and east of the Mississippi River delta, they entrained and so redistributed low salinity green water to a wider area within the NEGOM region than could be predicted by mean monthly streamflow alone. The mean surface chlorophyll-? concentrations, and in particular the distribution of relatively high surface chlorophyll-? concentrations off-shelf, were strongly dependent upon entrainment of freshwater by these slope eddies, especially during the three summer cruises. Interannual variability in the summertime entrainment of low salinity green water was driven by summer-to-summer differences in sea surface height (SSH) of the slope eddy(s), and in how far they extended on margin. Satellite observations of ocean color showed that freshwater entrainment by anticyclonic eddies persisted for a temporal scale of several weeks each summer. Satellite-derived surface chlorophyll-? concentrations were positively correlated with in situ measurements of surface chlorophyll-?, with greatest agreement between satellite and ship measurements of surface chlorophyll-? at concentrations <1.5 mg/m3. Because subsurface chlorophyll-? concentrations were often elevated at depths greater than the first optical depth, satellite measurements of chlorophyll-? concentration generally underestimated integrated chlorophyll-? standing stocks within the euphotic zone.
