La rentabilité économique de l'efficacité énergétique pour un distributeur gazier : une analyse bénéfices/coûtsTremblay, Jean-François. January 2000 (has links)

The History and Development of Casa Mañana Musicals, 1958-1980Jones, Jan Lynn 05 1900 (has links)
The investigation is a historical survey tracing the development of Casa Mañana Musicals, Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, from its experimental beginning in 1958 as the first permanent musical arena theatre in the United States, through twenty-three subsequent seasons. The study includes a chapter on the origins of theatre and the influences behind its concept dating back to the 1936 Casa Mañana produced by Billy Rose. Subsequent chapters deal with the theatre's seasons and its struggle to gain acceptance. The theatre's more recent financial and labor problems are also considered. Major sources include such unpublished data as production and financial records of the theatre, contracts, correspondence, minutes of the board of directors, and interviews. Published sources include accounts in newspapers and periodicals.

Morningstar ratings and performance of mutual fundsSinha, Partha Sarati January 2013 (has links)
In this study, we examine the predictive power of Morningstar’s new ratings for mutual funds’ future performance and compare its predictive power with four competing predictors. We also examine Morningstar’s new ratings’ predictive power in bull and bear periods. Furthermore, we compare the predictive power of the new and old star-ratings. We perform all these tests for both U.S. and Canadian equity funds. We use a regression model and non-parametric tests in this study.
The results suggest Morningstar’s new ratings accurately rank funds and predict out-of-sample performance of only five-star rated complete funds for short- and medium-terms for U.S., and for medium-term only for Canada. Also, predictive power of Morningstar’s new ratings is low compared to four alternative predictors for both countries. Further, the new star ratings accurately predicts for bear period for both markets. The old ratings (new ratings), however relatively predict better for U.S. funds (Canadian funds). / ix, 184 leaves ; 29 cm

Estimating leaf area index in savanna vegetation using remote sensing and inverse modellingBowyer, P. January 2005 (has links)
Leaf area index (LAI), defined as the one sided green leaf area per unit ground area, is a key parameter in ecosystem process models. Owing to the large area of the earth's surface that they occupy, savanna ecosystems represent the third largest terrestrial carbon sink. There is considerable uncertainty however, as to the functioning of these ecosystems, particularly as they respond to land cover changes. Consequently, ecosystem process models constitute one of the best methods available for investigating the effect this may have on terrestrial carbon cycling. If these models are to be used over large areas however, they need to be parameterised. This thesis develops a methodology to estimate LAI in savanna ecosystems, using remotely sensed earth observation (EO) data, laboratory bidirectional reflectance measurements (BRDF), physically based canopy reflectance models (CRMs), and artificial neural networks (ANN). First, the scattering behaviour of Kalahari soils was characterised, by making laboratory BRDF measurements. Soils were shown to be highly non-Lambertian. These measurements were then used to parameterise three different CRMs. Modelled reflectances were assessed with respect to Landsat ETM+ and Terra-MODIS reflectances. Results showed that a 1-D turbid medium provided the closest fit to the measurements. A series of model sensitivity analyses (SA) were performed, and it was shown that reflectance in the red and shortwave infrared displayed greatest sensitivity to LAI, sensitivity in the near-infrared was negligible. Model inversions were performed with ANN and different waveband combinations, and LAI was estimated. The results showed that LAI could be estimated with high accuracy, an RMSE of 0.3 1, and 0.18, from ETM+ and MODIS measurements, respectively. These results were promising, and with further improvements to models, coupled with more accurate input data, will see the use of EO data play an increasingly important role in understanding the functioning of these savanna ecosystems.

iPad and its potential in education / iPad and its potential in educationHloušek, Martin January 2010 (has links)
This master thesis focuses on the Apple's iPad in the educational institutions and provides reader with the compact overview about the device in this field. Firstly, it shows the strategy of the company in the Europe and the Czech Republic. Secondly, there are mentioned iPad competitors from the different perspectives and the comparison. Thirdly, iPad usage in the schools; if it is even suitable device for this field and how students and educators can benefit from it. This is followed by the survey among the high school and university students. The questionnaire was divided into the two groups -- non-iPad users and iPad users. And lastly the thesis shows various case studies from the different schools and how the iPad can be implemented into the curriculums. Also contains recommendations and the best practises from the different high schools and universities, which can be inspiring for the new iPad pilot projects.

Brand Knowledge : An exploratory study on whether demographic factors affect consumer brand knowledge of a company which practices a standardized targeting strategyKaminskaite, Magdalena, Johansson, Simon January 2019 (has links)
Globalization is here to stay, and with an increasing number of brands deciding to test their fortune abroad, the importance of branding increases alike. The choice of globalizing a brand comes with potential financial benefits but it is not done without considerable effort. According to Kotler and Keller, the choice regarding differentiation to competitors is one of the main factors a brand must consider when expanding abroad (2009). One key factor that determines the level of success of international companies is the amount of brand knowledge (Guedes & da Costa Soares, 2005). Consumer brand knowledge and its importance for financial success has been extensively studied by researchers (Fill & Turnbull, 2016) and it has been found that solid brands continuously outperform their markets (Pirrie, 2006). The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether demographic factors such as age, gender and nationality significantly affect consumer brand knowledge. The chosen brand for the study was Razer that practices a standardized global targeting strategy. Razer is a company that produces gaming equipment for gamers. Gamers constituted the desired sample of the study due to their belonging within the brands target segment. A survey based on and constructed using the “Dimensions of Brand Knowledge” by Keller (1993) was issued online in Sweden and Lithuania on social media within groups that share the common interest of gaming. 540 responses were collected, and 8 hypotheses were tested using SPSS linear regression tests. Findings showed that brand recognition differed in regard to demographic factors of the respondents, supporting H2. However, the remaining aspects of brand knowledge did not differ regarding the combined demographic factors, therefore, the remaining hypotheses were rejected. These results may aid marketers and scholars in the comprehension of factors that may affect their global marketing efforts within the gaming industry and contribute to the current research done within the field of gaming equipment, which is quite understudied given its economic potential.
