Palavras-chave: ameríndios na Europa, práticas de posse, escravidão, nativos americanos / Abstract: This research aims at studying the American natives from Spanish and Portuguese Americas sent to Europe. Embarkments prove that European colonized not only American lands, but also human beings. In a larger context, the ways in which Europeans colonized the New World, through rituals and their representations, such as writing and image, are in connection with the discussion. These transferences are considered practices of ownership through which the Europeans expressed their domination over the natives. This ownership consists of two dimensions: the physical ownership, including the embarkment and slavery of natives in Europe, and the performative ownership, including the embarkment of natives, whether compelled or not, to be exhibited to Europe as an image of America. The exhibition of indigenous sent to Europe was compared to other exhibitions considered monstrous or exotic in the European courts, resulting in a hypothetical view of how the aboriginals were observed and exposed. Disregarded by world geography and culture considered civilized, their voices were used to prepare the European speech about the America. The capture of the aboriginals in the physical plan was followed by a capture in the representational plan, as a two-way action. The native presence in Europe, however, does not mean that Amerindians acted passively in relation to European behavior. The embarkment to Europe could be due to aboriginal purposes. Keywords: Amerindians in Europe, practices of ownership, slavery, American natives
