PROTOTYPE IP SATELLITE NETWORK

Newtson, Kathy 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 20-23, 2003 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Prototyping an Internet Protocol (IP) compliant architecture will demonstrate a realistic basis for satellite communication design. The prototype IP architecture should prove seamless and secure communications between the satellites and ground stations. Using commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment, design and development of satellite communications becomes easier and less expensive than developing specialized equipment. IP space applications will improve communications while minimizing development costs.

Key Components of the iNET Test Article Standard

Grace, Thomas B., Kenney, Joshua D., Moodie, Myron L., Abbott, Ben A. 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2009 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Fifth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 26-29, 2009 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The integrated Network-Enhanced Telemetry (iNET) Test Article Standards Working Group (TASWG) has developed a standard for Telemetry Network System (TmNS). The introduction of Internet Protocol (IP) networks on test ranges has created the potential for greater flexibility in the telemetry environment. This paper discusses the rationale for particular decisions concerning key components mandated by the standard. Performance implications concerning the mandates of the standard are also described. As an educational aid, examples of TAS-based processing philosophies and data structures have been constructed. These examples, including sending and receiving messages, are shown to reinforce understanding core concepts of the standard.

RANGE COMMANDER’S COUNCIL (RCC) TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND TIMING GROUP (TTG) UPDATE ON TM OVER IP STANDARD DEVELOPMENT

Eslinger, Brian, Kovach, Bob 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2007 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Third Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 22-25, 2007 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The RCC TTG initiated task TT-49 to generate a standard for the transport of serial streaming telemetry (TM) over the Internet Protocol (IP). An ad hoc committee was activated comprised of Range and vendor participation to develop this standard. This paper will address the progress of the standard, the use of commercial standards, and the benefits to the ranges. The early meetings focused on developing the packet structure; the preliminary results will be presented along with the latest status on the RCC approval cycle.

A new alternate routing scheme with endpoint admission control for low call loss probability in VoIP network

Mandal, Sandipan 07 1900 (has links)
Call admission control (CAC) extends the capabilities of Quality of service (QoS) tools which protect voice traffic from the negative effects of other voice traffic. It does not allow oversubscription of a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network. To achieve better performance for efficient call admission control, various dynamic routings are being proposed. In the dynamic routing mechanism, the condition of the network is learned by observing the network condition via the probe packets and according to the defined threshold, routes are chosen dynamically. In such schemes, various combination of route selection is used such as two routes are used where one is fixed and other is random or two random routes are chosen and after observation one is chosen if it passes the test. Few schemes use a route history table along with the two random routes. But all have some issues like it selects random routes (not considering the number of hops), does not process memorization before admission threshold test, it calculates all selected paths regardless of the fact that they are selected or not, thereby wasting central processing unit (CPU) time and since these uses two routes so obviously the call admission probability is less. In this thesis work, a new dynamic routing scheme is proposed which considers a routing history table with endpoint admission control increasing the call admission probability, makes call establishment time faster and it saves valuable CPU resources. The proposed scheme considers a combination of three routes with routing history table--one is the direct route and the other two are selected randomly from all available routes and the routing history table is used to memorize the rejected calls. CAC tests like Admission Threshold were performed on the selected routes. Various parameters such as delay, packet loss, jitter, latency etc from the probe packets are used to carry out the tests. Performance of the proposed scheme with respect to other dynamic routing schemes is studied using a mathematical / analytical model. Also, effect of arrival rate probe packets on utilization, busy period, waiting period, acceptance probability of calls, probe packets, and the number of successful calls was also studied. / Thesis (M.S.)--Wichita State University, College of Engineering, Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering. / "July 2006."

How IP VPN Affects Strategy for Company X

TSAI, TUN-CHI 16 July 2003 (has links)
The purpose of this article is to identify how Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) affects the business strategy for Taiwan Internet Service Provider, using X Company as an example. With the change in technology, the world¡¦s business environment change from day to day. The break though development such as Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network, create a whole new era of communication. With the pressure coming from both the fixed network carrier (Type 1 telecommunications enterprises) and the existing Internet service provider competitors. X Company needs to find a new market niche to maintain its competition. Strategy becomes most important when the existing business model is coming into a mature stage. A partnership with other service carriers or an innovation within the same business filed becomes the crucial decision. Through X Company¡¦s internal data, this thesis will analyzed the strength and weakness compare to its current competitors. With the data from the customer survey, X Company can also identify the need of its customers. At the end, this thesis will prove X Company¡¦s trend toward IP VPN transformations is the right strategy. As data traffic expected to outgrow voice traffic in the coming year, X Company¡¦s transformation to IP-based Virtual Private Networks is the right strategy. IP VPN setup will be the trend of increasing dependence on the corporate network as a way of interconnecting users with enterprise software, business process, databases, and intellectual capital. Companies are transferring more enterprise applications between sites, as well as data replication and transfer. But enterprises are aiming at the same time to combine the effectiveness of information sharing with the network with the need to make sure security, manageability, functionality and privacy while being paying attention on cost control. X Company IP VPNs offer a more reasonable mean of doing so without the necessity for expensive leased line dedicated connections.
