Culture shock, trauma, exile, and nostalgia in Iranian-American literatureReza, Carmen Amrina 12 July 2011 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with the concepts of exile, trauma, and nostalgia and how they all come together to create a sense of culture shock that the subjects of my thesis encountered. Azar Nafisi, Nahid Rachlin, Tara Bahrampour, and Azadeh Moaveni, are all Iranian-American authors, and despite their different life experiences and ages, they all encountered culture shock as it related to male-female relations, Iranian gender norms and issues of sex and sexuality and treatments and views of the female body as it relates to reproduction. / text

L'évolution contemporaine des rapports sociaux de sexe en Iran : la représentation chez les femmes iraniennes de leurs rôles familiaux et sociaux / The evolution of contemporary gender relations in Iran : the representation among Iranian women in their family and social rolesShariat, Niloofar 28 May 2014 (has links)
Our ambition is to study : The evolution of contemporary gender relations in Iran based on the study of representation that Iranian women have of their family and social roles. It is a question of women belonging to different generations and different social backgrounds to specify different types of conceptions of the role of women and the different aspirations that we can find today among women in Iran. Our idea was to analyse the ideas of women that reflect the diversity of visions of women by Iranian women. They do not all agree with each other, and their speech is sometimes shifted with statistics, historical and economic studies available. But thanks to them , we can represent a picture of the point of view of women by Iranian women

Magický realismus v perské a saúdské próze / Magical Realism in Persian and Saudi Narrative WritingVojtíšková, Věra January 2016 (has links)
The dissertation Magical Realism in Persian and Saudi Narrative Writing views as essential the assumption that the phenomenon of magical realism is not restricted solely to the cultures with colonial legacy, but is transferable to literary works created under systematic and systemic violence anywhere in the world. Previous research of the dissertation's author proved the existence of parallels in the dynamics of sociopolitical development of Iran and Saudi Arabia in the 20th century, foremost in the power relation of the states to their citizens and in the status of women in the society, while there was a strong tendency towards institutionalization of the traditional patriarchal, androcentric and misogynic societal paradigms since the second half of the 20th century. In the last thirty years, women have countered this situation through increased literary activity that has turned out to be an important means of self-fulfillment and emancipation. The fact that some of the most significant Iranian and Saudi women writers use magical realism directed the research to examination of this concept's relevance for the Persian and Saudi narrative writing, inquiry into the reflection of the gender issues and their comparison in both literatures. A detailed case study of two works, each from one country, led...
