This study presents the logic of the urbanization in Itaquera and the creation of linear parks in the city of São Paulo, gathers reflections and analysis about the implantation of linear parks in urban areas, and discusses the necessity of implantation of linear parks to the recovery of the town water resources, with the implantation of the Rio Verde Linear Park. It was intended with this dissertation to discuss the public intervention in irregular occupation areas and to evaluate the impact that the Rio Verde Linear Park caused to the neighborhood. To reach these objectives, the research was done through on-site observations, interviews, data obtained with official municipal organs and important theoretical referentials that discuss the Brazilian and municipal urbanization, the history of Itaquera neighborhood, the urban parks, besides the urbanistic and environmental legislation. The results obtained in this research demonstrate that the park has not presented correct social and environmental features according to the proposal of the implantation / A implantação de Parques Lineares surgiu na cidade de São Paulo no Plano Diretor Estratégico, criado pela Lei 13.430 de 2002 e propõe na legislação urbanística e ambiental o programa de Recuperação Ambiental em Cursos d Água e Fundos de Vale. Este trabalho apresenta a lógica da urbanização em Itaquera e a criação de parques lineares na cidade de São Paulo, reúne reflexões e análises sobre a implantação de parques lineares em áreas urbanas, além de discutir a necessidade de implantação dos parques lineares para a recuperação dos recursos hídricos do município, a partir da implantação do Parque Linear Rio Verde. Buscou-se com essa dissertação discutir a intervenção pública em áreas de ocupação irregular e avaliar o impacto que o Parque Linear Rio Verde causou a vizinhança. Para alcançar esses objetivos, a pesquisa utilizou-se de observações de campo, entrevistas, dados obtidos junto a órgãos oficiais municipais e importantes referenciais teóricos que discutem a urbanização brasileira e municipal, a história do bairro Itaquera, os parques urbanos, além da legislação urbanística e ambiental. Os resultados obtidos nesta pesquisa demonstram que o parque ainda não apresenta características sociais e ambientais corretas de acordo com a proposta de implantação
